Thank goodness it's a smaller tax hike than what they were orignally going to impose. The thing I don't understand is why there is a tax hike, when they layed off, imposed an activity fee, and cut back. I can understand pensions can cost; eventhough, the employees to pay some into it, but...couldn't some of the current employees with the higher pays have a cut? Also, new employees shouldn't be paid high salaries. A good teacher will still apply for lower paying teaching jobs, since there aren't that many out there. You can't tell me that there are lots of teaching jobs, when you see school districts laying off left and right and there are 500 teacher applications/job. You can't tell me that none of those 500 applications are qualified. A good teacher teaches, because they have a passion for teaching...not for the money.
