The optimism that once propelled this nation forward is apparently gone. We are refusing to fund our own future, and prefer to instead plow our money into ensuring we can play bingo or golf or whatever until we die. Our leadship position in the world is being passed to other nations, and we will end up, not as a world power, but as an entitlement program with a nuclear armament.
The only chance we have here locally is that enough people who have kids in the system will realize that they need to take the 10 or 15 minutes out of the day and vote for this levy. Those who oppose it will certainly turn out and vote, because, sadly, it is historically easier to get people to vote against something rather than for it.
Our jobs are disappearing, our houses are being foreclosed on, and our chldrens future is being spent away by a government that cant see past the next Gallup poll. Then on top of it all we slash education expenditures to the point that no one with any brains or talent will want to teach, and that sports and music and so on will be like the moon landings...something we did once upon a time, but not now.
And then you wonder where suggestions like rationing health care or euthenasia counselling come from. They are the end result of a refusal to accept that education costs money, and if we dont invest now, our future is going to be exactly as was predicted in movies like Soylent Green and Logans Run.

In short, we're screwed. Just the same way our grandparents said we were when that crazy rock n' roll music started way back when. Just get out and vote yes, unless of course you are dirt poor or (more commonly) an overly Conservative Fox news viewer who would rather polish their boat and keep more of their cash because hey, its every man for themselves, right?

Alot of us don't have boats to polish. Alot of us have kids to and we're trying our best to get by. We can't afford another increase. It doesn't mean we don't support kids. It just means we can't afford it. Why don't you ask the board about the boosters paying for 90% of the sports and things. Why not ask them why they have to use our children as pawns. They shot down pay to play because thats their only leverage. Be mad at the board and not us. Vote NO! Check out the facts here. WWW.SWATLEVY.COM Read some things the board doesn't want you to know.

Amen!
Why did the Board take the chance away from the kids if not to force us to vote yes? That's pathetic!

Wow you read the whole first page. What not look deeper into it. For god and for country..... Give me a break. I fought for my country and gave 25 years. So don't go playing the for country card. The fact is the school board uses our kids as pawns. None of you parents get made at them. You get mad at the people that can't afford the levy. I pray it fails. I prey it fails over and over and over. That way the school board will have to go to the state for change. It's about time they go to the state for change. VOTE NO!!!! Send the school board another message. We won't take it anymore.

Yes, exactly! We ALL pray that this levy passes with overwhelming support tomorrow! We should continue to fight for this great land of ours by doing our part and support South-Western City Schools, or whatever school district you are in. The children are our future, and we need to do whatever it takes to ensure their success! You are exactly right Tim, please make sure you and everyone you know votes YES tomorrow for ISSUE TWO!

Two questions that I have and would someone educate me. #1. Why doesnt someone get a independent group to come in and take a look at the books of SWCS and see where the money has gone for the past lets say five years. #2. Lets say the levy fails and Grove City forms their own school district with the two high schools and what elementary schools are in GC . Say goodbye to the areas that brings down their revenue . I hope the levy passes . Good luck

Your so smart Tim-teach that BOE a lesson by punishing the kids and the community.....

And it is pray (not prey) that it fails.....

1. The district has requested an independent audit-www.swcs.us
2. There will not be GC schools-there is no tax base to support it.

Hey Terry-you said that you had red and black ribbons available?

Hmm....why don't you have one on your house?

BTW-it is Grove City High School Band Boosters-not bank boosters

It that the best you can do? Make personal attacks. Sure does change my mind on how I'll vote. I was going to vote no but I see these people who want to vote yes calling others names so now I will vote yes!

That's pathetic. If you have points make them. If not? Be a bit mature and walk away. All the name calling does is make sure we are good and mad and GO to the POLLS to vote no!

Tim, I agree with you. They should be ashamed of themselves for using the children an pawns. The administrators who make tons of money are always looking out for themselves. Has the district really taken a hard look at how they spend thier money? Probably not.

I pulled this from another blog board. WE WONDER WHY WE HAVE A HARD TIME PASSING A LEVY.

"Reason's I Will Not Be Voting For HAWK:
-She is only endorsed by 3 Firefighters. Ones who complain about a lot of things and don’t really look at how good they have it. So she is "firefighter endorsed" but she is getting no money from the unions and is only endorsed by three or four firefighters. If they are so upset about their situation please leave I need a job where I get a GREAT benefits package and pay only $30.00! I work a full time job for minimum wage and pay $185.00 for private insurance that is NOTHING! I get to go to the doctors four times a year!!
-She has never even been to a Township meeting. How can I vote for someone who doesn't even know the process? I have been to 1 Township meeting my entire life that is one more than Hawk. So does that mean I am qualified to run for Trustee?
-I can forgive her for not ever going to a meeting BUT she hasn’t even requested to go in and look at the books. To see where money is being spent, and where it needs to go to better the dept.!

THIS IS THE SAME PERSON WHO IS INVOLVED WITH THE LEVY SUPPORT FACEBOOK PAGE. THEY ARE VERY VOCAL IN SUPPORT OF THE LEVY. YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS!!!! THE FIREMAN NEED TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY ARE OVERPAID? YOU FEEL THE NEED TO LEAD THE CHARGE FOR THIS LEVY BUT YOU MAKE THAT COMMENT ABOUT FIREMEN. GIVE ME A BREAK !!!!!!

1. Kids go to school to learn, not play sports.

2. When your school district covers an area full of ignorant hilljacks who see ignorance as a virtue, they have no incentive to give their kids a good education.

So, go ahead and keep voting down levies. We need to make sure that the kids down there keep us well supplied with cheap labor so we don't have to rely on illigal immigrants.

SWCS knew that they would be in an economic crisis 5 years ago if they continued down the path of employee raises as they have. These government employees have remained recession proof during the worst economic disaster in modern history. It's time their pay and benefits packages were restructed to on e that is sustainable into the future.
Private sector employees that work 9 months of 7 and three quarter hours per day(includes 1 hour for lunch and classroom planning time)are considered part time rntitling them to no benefits whatsoever.School districts all over Ohio are realizing that this pay and benefits is unsustainable into the future.
Homeowners are already paying taxes on homes whose value is inflated. They have dropped -some by half-but not had our property values reassessed to reflect their lost value.
It's time for SWCS to consider the obvious option of pay and benefits cuts. This is the only plan that will save the neccessary money to balance the budget.Yes voters bewarthey will be back asking for more every 3 years to maintain their level of increases and increased costs of their benefits packages.District employees have seen their pay and benefits far excedd the private sector in overall compensation.
It is completely unfair that homeowners such as my husband and myself are 100% responsible for our own healthcare costs with no employer contribution to retirement either, and have to pay for their pay and benefits as well.
The only thing that will work to balance SWCS budget,is the only thing they refuse to consider-employee pay and benefits cuts.

Why is EVERYONE expected to make a sacrifice ACCEPT THE BOARD MEMBERS AND ADMINISTRATORS? What kind of pay cuts and benefit reductions are THEY willing to toss into the pot. Taxpayers are expected to chip in, and now the kids and their parents in the pay-for-play option. Where's the BOE's contribution, other than their history of bad planning and ludicrous spending?

This is all a crock of crap! VOTE "NO"!!!!

Can we annex Grove City to West Virginia or Kentucky? I guess the stereotype about the typical Grove City resident is true.
