What does the citizens of Perry County think about having our law enforcement doing Mandatory Drug Testing?
For those of you who do not have any understanding of the City of Perryville and do not know how the City of Perryville operates you should check into the cities drug policy. All City of Perryville employees are required to take a mandatory drug screening prior to and during employement.

The city has mandatory drug screening so before you start making stupid comments in which you know nothing about maybe you should look a little further into how the city operates.

<quoted text>You have got to be kidding me. My father is an ex police officer so yes to this day, i know every single officer in this town. Now, dont get me wrong, some of them are assholes for sure. Let's start with the Perryville Police Department. Yes, some of them may be lazy ----heads, but I will tell you most of them do their jobs the right way and the perryville police do have a mandatory drug testing, i can guarantee you none of them fellas use drugs. Okay, now then sheriff's department. Yes I know Brian is known for drugs, but is that the sheriff's departments fault? maybe someone in that department! However I do not believe the sheriff's department has a drug screening procedure, but thats probably because the commisioners will not pay for it. But, I cannot believe the way you people talk about our law enforcement, you people are always on them, rather they are doing their jobs are their not. If they are, then their picking on you, if their not, then they are crooked. Put yourself in their shoes, you think they like putting up with the shit they have to and listen to the people they do, I would be an asshole cop to if I had to put up with some of the people in this town. I'm not saying all cops are good, but I know that most of our local police are good hearted people and have families and feelings as do me and you. Most the people that complain about our law enforcement have been in trouble, or no someone who has, or someone that has been in trouble makes up some bullcrap rumor to make themselves look good. use your head people. I guarantee you most ( not all ) people leave there real name on here, they have been arrested several times.
So you say your father is an ex police officer and I wonder why is he an ex? You talk about the stuff the cops have to put up with. Do you think that maybe this is a big part of their job. They are truly underpaid for sure.Having to be mediators, counselors and peace makers is an exhausting jolt everyday but get real this is a Huge part of their job. I agree with if you commit crime than shut up and take what you got coming because it is there job to enforce the law and protect our community. I dont think Gary Schaff should be responsible for the decisions his grown children make and I dont believe our community should have ill feelings toward him . I hope the law would apply the same to his son if rumors are true. Its a huge concern that our police officers maybe under the influence and carrying a weapon and this is why I believe that mandatory drug testing be enforced and monitored very close. Isnt it the fight of this country to get weapons out of the hands of drug dealers. Wouldnt users of drugs be the same? I mean HELLO?

Well you want one bad thing that your pot has caused I would say take a look at your spelling. Looks like it has really affected you! Its amazing how people quote the BIBLE and interpret things in there own way. God talks about planting seeds in the bible but I dont believe he meant POT SEEDS . To sew good seeds I believe he meant to do good in your life so you can have a good harvest not one you pick and smoke!

selfish , you need to read these posts again. they are talking about our sherrifs dept. not doing drug testing , which they do, and being on duty with a weapon and possibly being under the influence. no-one was pointing fingers at anyone. and as far as i knew they are all police officers. deputy is just another name for a county police officer.

The cops here are cracking down and getting alot of the drugs off the streets, but in a town like this the only things kids have to do is break the law so that they can show off and build a useless reputation, which will only get them locked up or a front row box seat at millers funeral home.Living in this town for over 25 years now and knowing alot of the druggies i have seen most of them getting busted within the last year,so they are cracking down but there's no way they are going to make this town completely drug free. This town has always been full of drugs and drunks and it would take an army to even come close to changing that.

They are drug tested.

<quoted text> It sounds like your very upset about this. Could you elaborate a little more about your comment . This is truly an interesting comment. Have you ever wondered why do we as citizens wanna trust our law enforcement to uphold the laws and trust in them that they are all drug free while doing so?For us in this county to not push an issue as such is just blinding on our part. Perryville needs to stand up and demand that all employees in law enforcement of our county anyway, pass mandatory drug testing . This has never made any sense to me why we have never put this on a ballot to vote on. If your comment has any truth to it I wonder how long this has been going on and is our law enforcement doing any under cover investigating to this? Im curious Perryville on what your thoughts are on having Mandatory Drug Testing on our law enforcement in Perry County.

The Sheriff's Dept. Employees ARE drug tested. I know, I work there. I know what the signs of drug using look like, no one here is using drugs. Stop bashing us. If you think this town is full of drugs, why don't some of you who know the users, call in and give us some info? You can remain anonymous. If you know where a meth lab is, call it in, please! We are always looking for drug arrests, but unfortunatetly, can't be everywhere with just 1 or 2 deputies per shift. Meth is everywhere, but you can't always blame local law enforcement, come on guys, we have kids in the county too. We are all supportive of getting rid of it, or at least reducing it, none of us wants those people offering it to our children! So if you have info, just give us a call. Thanks!

Guys listen would you want a job when every time you went to work all you dealt with is other peoples problems? No way. Give the police there ups. The problem is the Chief of Police in Perryville this position was handed to him by Eugene Besand. Eugene was a great Chief. He would atleast be in the Office and would be willing to speak to the public when they had problems. Tarrillion on the other hand has Bill Jones do all his work for him while he worries about his lawn care business! He cheats on his wife daily! He needs to be replaced. There were several great cops that left shortly after Tarrillion took over and that sucks. anyway I've said enough. SEE YA!

Are you joking? I know you have to be a pot head with that kind of comment! How many people get killed because of pot! You think pot is not dangerous you try telling familys that lost a family member

i am not a pot head but you need to educate yourself on the effects of pot. yes i have smoked it but no i do not as an adult and responsible one at that. I am educated on the effects and have seen many people high on it because of my job. but the effects are much less than even that of alcohol. there are meny tests on the effects of pot and many medicinal uses for it maybe you should check them out. educate yourself before you start calling people names

The Federal Government classified marijuana as a schedule I narcotic. For a narcotic to be placed in that schedule there are no known medical use for it and has a high potenitual use for abuse. Marijuana is not prescribed as a medicene to be used. There are some states that think they can over rule the Federal Government, like California for an example. So the Federal Government steps in and makes an arrest. Doctors can not prescribe a schedule I narcotic, period. If a person has marijuana in their possession then they will be arrested. They can even show some little card that states it is for medical purpose, but in Missouri, it dosent fly!!

How can you say that the sheriff's deparetment are not part of the drugs in Perryville when the Sheriff's son Brian is one of the biggest druggies of all? And by biggest, I don't mean his weight. I think this makes it pretty obvious.
Well, this is Brian and you now have my attention... If you think I'm one of the biggest druggies in Perryville you obviously don't even know anything about me... If you did you'd know the only drugs I use are ibuprophen and nicotine... Try getting to know somebody before you go typing crap about them that you can't back up sport...

Brian, were you not the son that got caught breaking into the ladies house down by Lithium looking for drugs in the medicine cabinet. We know you did not get charged. In a small town it is not what you know, it is who you know.
