CARUTHERSVILLE, MO (KAIT) The Caruthersville Police Department says three arrests have been made following a five-month investigation into a burglary and theft of copper from a vacant industrial building.

Police say copper wires were stolen from 101 Industrial drive, a building belonging to Gleason Industrial Products of Santa Monica, CA, on November 4. As a result, Melissa Lindsey, 29, Marion Dewayne Lindsey, 32, and Phillip Krech, 33, all of Blytheville are facing several charges in connection with the thefts.

According to police, officers inspected the building after Ameren MO, and electric company, reported that someone had damaged a conduit and stole an undetermined amount of copper electric wire.

Inside the building, police say they noticed a large breaker cabinet that looked like it had been pulled from its foundation with a vehicle and noticed that all the large diameter copper wiring had been stripped from the whole building.

A representative with Gleason Industrial says the building sustained approximately $150,000 in damage.

Melissa Lindsey was arrested March 6 and faces second degree burglary, felony stealing, and first degree property damage. She bonded out of the Pemiscot County Jail March 23 after posting $25,000 bond.

Marion Lindsey and Phillip Krech were arrested March 29 and face second degree burglary, felony stealing, and first degree property damage. Lindsey bonded out March 29 after posting $50,000 bond, and Krech bonded out on the same day after posting $25,000 bond.

More arrests are expected in this case.

The Caruthersville Police Department would like to thank the Pemiscot County Sheriff Department and the Mississippi County, Arkansas Sheriff's Department with their help into this investigation.

I'm almost certain that all that copper left the building 5 years ago.
