As many folks know, a rival hospital company is challenging the CON for the Poinciana hospital.

A hearing on the matter is scheduled for later this summer. Please vote in the poll and leave any applicable comments.

It is a long ride from Poinciana to St. Cloud especially if you are bleeding or having a heart attack. I have been in that traffic and it is a nightmare.

If it was another strip mall/plaza being built. I would understand another comapny fighting against it. But this is for the betterment of the community as a whole reguradless if your in Polk or Osceola. Healthcare is not about making money it's about helping each people. Stop being greedy America.

Do not open a Hospital, but build that access road that they so much need to connect St Cloud and Poinciana.

The distance to other area hospitals is not the only issue.
I have sat in an emergency room in Kissimmee with my husband along with several paramedics for two and half hours while the paramedics waited for their gurney. No beds in the emergency room for someone so ill.
Once the emergency room bed was available for him he remained there for another 24 hours while they waited for a hospital bed to be available.
Our hospitals are very over crowded.
The last surgery I took him to Orlando Regional Medical Center and while the hospital and their staff were wonderful, we also ran into the same issue.
I don't believe it is enough to have a hospital in Poinciana. We need a hospital in Poinciana that will provide emergency services.

Poinciana is a community of over 70 thousand people who deserve to have quality medical care available quickly; the same as all other large communities. Too many people from Poinciana have already died due to lack of access. It is time for St. Cloud and Heart of FL hospitals to stop their greediness and the construction of a hospital/ER in Poinciana to begin.

Heart of Florida shouldn't be allowed to come down on both sides of the issue. First they said a hospital wasn't needed then reversed themselves and sayed that they would like to build one. Shouldn't saving lives be the issue here and not whether some faceless corporate types make more money. Build the hospital!

To Whom It May Concern:I have been a resident of Poinciana since July 4th, 1980.

In 1994 I was diagnosed with COPD and emphysema, as years passed four trips to the hospital (intensive care unit once) were made by ambulance.

There was not much traffic in the 80's traffic today is a true disaster. Time to be picked up by ambulance and trip to hospital is very hard on all (EMT's, Driver, Patient, etc.) involved. I have spent 8+ hours in the ER waiting room waiting for treatmentn then 6 hours waiting for a bed.

Poinciana has a population of 70,000+ and are in dire need of a hospital.

Also as my wife stated, the trips back and forth to Kissimmee hospitals is a drain on the mind and physical being.

Please take into consideration everything involved in this situation.

My input is only one, but I'm sure there are many, many more.

You must come to the conclusion the need is great even as I'm writing this.

St Cloud would be better to push for high school grads to go into nursing school, than try stopping a hospital being built, they are worried there will not be enough nurses and Doctors. BUILD THEY WILL COME

St. Cloud has a population of 24,249 in 2006. Poinciana has a Population of 72,000+, whats wrong with this picture

Sincerely,
Jack

When I experienced chest pains and had to be taken by ambulance to Osceola Regional Hospital in Kissimmee it took an hour to get there. A stroke victim does not have an hour to waste before treatment starts.,

I live in Poinciana and do believe we need a medical facility. A hospital would be the wonderful, but what is the true need of the people living in this community. I believe that need is a medical facility, which also has an Emergency Room.

I came from the upper midwest and this concept worked very well in addressing Family Pactice, Pediatrics and the occassional broken bone, heart attack or around here traffic related injury. When hospitalization was required you went to the hospital affiliated with that clinic. A hospital cannot be all things to all people. We seem to focus on the emergency and a facility being right at our front door.

I'll probably take some heat from my senior neighbors. I moved here and adapted. My GP is in Celebration. My vascular surgeon, spinal surgeon and pain management doctor are all in Orlando.

So I guess my bottom line is, if we get a hospital great, if not that's ok also. I am not going to change my doctors just because there is a hospital 2 blocks away. But I will have comfort knowing an Emergency Room that can save my life is close by.

Poinciana is growing rapidly, and with the traffic congestion on Cypress/Pleasant Hill Road getting to Osceola Regional takes approximatelty an hour in an emergency

The fear by St. Cloud Hospital of not being able to recruit nurses from Poinciana is ludricous and should not be the basis for denying the construction of a much NEEDED hospital facility in Poinciana.

My husband is a heart patient, I have severe asthma. We have spent many hours in Osceola ER waiting to be seen. Our conditions worsten as we sat and waited and when asked how much longer, I've been given a rude reply. Now I refuse to go there and just take my chances. If in dire need of medicalservice I drive myself to Celebration where I have been seen immediately. I just don't understand how a small community like ST Cloud is protesting a ER/Hospital in a community as large as Poinciana [72,000 + residents]

If you vote no on Poinciana having a hospital with an ER, I dare you to come and live here knowing that the closest hospital may be an hours drive away with traffic, if you or a loved one were to need emergency care. Come walk in our shoes.

I had an emergency trip to Kissimmee
at 7am on a Monday. The ambulance driver was wonderful but had to go as quickly as possible due to concerns for my heart. It was an extremely bumpy ride and took 45 minutes. How much safer and easier (to say nothing of having the ambulance back in service more quickly) to have gone 4 miles to the hospital instead of 20. I never go to St Cloud and can't imagine why they would have a say in this as it is 30 miles away.

I have problems requiring frequent lab appointments. Not only would a hospital help the Poincina residents, the related offerings are needed and would be appreciated.

Ditto to sll of above plus, with the
price of gas now (and growing),driving
as far as we do to see MDs, tests, etc., for both me and my wife and our son who has a very serious, progressive, chronic illness(we've
had to take him as far a Tampa several times!), is becoming quite a burden. We've had to go up to Oak St or Celebration as often as 4x/week on occasion!

Last Friday I encountered a Cottonmouth in my yard. It was large and for those unfamiliar with this species of snake it is venomous and ill tempered. Most snakes flee when given the opportunity, these however have been known to charge. I have a toddler that weighs less than thirty pounds, a hit from a snake like this could be very dicey, especially with a twenty plus minute drive to a hospital. A few years ago I had a 4 1/2 foot Rattlesnake in the yard. Florida = snakes, but Poinciana + greedy individuals + indifferent politicians + the as long as I get mine crowd = potential death for our seniors and kids. Remember seconds can make a difference, to those who have allowed the unchecked growth without the accompanying infrastructure SHAME ON YOU! Does generating tax revenue and growth mean more than the people who elect you? What if it was your parents or children, or you stuck in the traffic ? That's right it isn't, so you and your cronies don't care. To the rest of us; you get the government you deserve. Hold these people RESPONSIBLE, use your voice and your vote. All the campaign contributions in the world can't overcome a united and determined electorate in a free society.

It is absolutely shameful that a community with a population the size of Poinciana does not have its own hospital! You must drive at least 30 to 45 minutes, in traffic, to reach an emergency room. Why is this being blocked, besides greed?

Not only is the traffic bad but try getting to the hospital should it happen when children are either going or coming to school.
The needs are there, communities 55 and older will require care on a more frequent basis plus emergency care
