Jesus!

Electrocuted? I always thought fallen power lines were a myth.

How terrible. But, rest assured the two pedestrians passed in a noble way.

My condolences to both families.

Blessings.

prayers to loved ones, but seriously people, #1 rule is secure the scene. that means if it is not safe don't become another victim. I almost made the same mistake with a live wire but then noticed the arc fires down the path.

Always treat power of any sort as live...Never think a down power line is dead,i've been on calls like this before of electrocution happening because people think there is no power...Prayers go out to the families of the vehicle occupants and those trying to lend a hand..

Very True. I wish they would teach CPR and basic first aid to students in high school.

What a horror story. I've seen staged videos of this hazard, which is more hideous in the dark of night, when you can't see the downed electric lines.

"Two pedestrians saw the accident and tried to help, but were electrocuted. Both 27-year old Travis Jefferson and 23-year-old Lahonda Dupree died on the scene."

As expected the actual events of this accident are mixed up. Nevertheless my condelences go to the families of all of them. Lashonda "Shonda" I am going to miss you. Travis "Head" I know that you will be watching over your baby girl from above. Octavia "Stanka" my prayers are with your family especially your children. Kiesha, Rome G, and Damon I pray that you three pull through.

Travis Jeffersons' nickname was "head". He and Rome G did go to Edisto. I think they graduated around 1997 or 1998. All of them were pretty much from the Cannon Bridge road area, although I am not sure about Octavia" Stanka" the female who died in the car. Travis,Kiesha, Damon, and Shonda were either in a car ahead of Rome G and Octavia or behind them and saw the accident. They turned around to help them. Another gentleman stopped shortly after the accident said that as the four were going to the car he yelled for them to watch out for the down power lines as he went to call 911. It is unclear whether Shonda Passed out or not. Rome G had been thrown from the car and was not answering when they yelled his name. They were carrying Shonda back up towards the roadway when they were electricuted. Travis had her from behind carrying her upper body while Damon and Kiesha each had a leg. Travis yelled for them to watch out for the power lines, but then he slipped and his head fell on the power line sending electricity through him ,then through Lashonda ,and through
Kiesha and Damon before exiting Damons back. Kiesha and Damon are both at the Augusta burn center in Georgia and Rome G is at MUSC in Charleston.

What happened? How did the Samaritans get electrocuted? I am truly sorry that this tragic event occurred, but it does the victims no justice to keep the information unavailable. Let us know what happened!!

Thank you for saying that. Obviously some people don't understand that this could have happened to them or one of their friends or family members. All they did was tried to help. It is very unfortunate and the majority of them had/have young children.
