Sick-time initiative may not be on ballot

There are 2 comments on the Business Journal story from Sep 18, 2012, titled Sick-time initiative may not be on ballot. In it, Business Journal reports that:

The sick-time initiative may not be on the Nov. 6 ballot after all, as a three-judge panel ruling on Monday seemed to support Citizens for a Greater Orange County's argument, but gave Orange County up to 20 days to respond, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

This is the way for the head judge to overrule the other two by having the 3 judges rule for it then being able to delay it so it misses the ballot. I'm assumng the head judge. The OCOC sued and the first click of the website is the suborganization run by the head judge's wife! Multinationals care to run freakin Orange county and run it into the ground. The republican controlled city/ county are the Corporation welfare Queens of the country. Gotta grab our tax dollars any which way they can.

The people that vote for this are essentially voting themselves out of a job. There are a lot of small businesses operating on a 1-2% profit margin these days and they are just barely breaking even. Mandate another expense and watch the job market shrink- again.

And even if the economy was more robust, government should not legislate business practices. I don't want to hear about child labor laws or laws regarding safe work environments from the peanut gallery. Paid sick time is a VOLUNTARY benefit offered by SOME employers. If your employer does not offer it, then it might be time to polish up the resume and look for one that does. That is how the free market works.
