The police had no business chasing them at high speeds. It seems that the boys had done nothing to warrant the death penalty and they could easily have ran into a van with a mother and carload of kids. The police were supposed to be the adults in this incident. Sadly, often the people everyone else hated in school because they were bullies went on to become police.
By the way, I'm 50 years old, white, making low 6 figures and have never been arrested.

What do want the police to do? Just let a car drive down the road at night with no lights on? Really? The Police were doing there job trying to stop their reckless behavior "BEFORE" they ran into a van with a mother and carload of kids!

If you're 50 years old and you really believe what you just posted you're the dumbest on Topix!

your day is coming to be arrested for nothing ,,, didn't you know that better tan 80% of the ppl that is arrested is drum up charge by a incommupt police officer this officer should have made another decesion instead of the one he made so lets make and example out of this officer and seen him to prison for two murder he has cause ..... if one of the parents was chase the teen and they were killed they would have been charge with murder . the police cars have radio in them so use the damn thing instead run 90 mph down the road after some one that you know you can not catch ........ now two teen are dead due to the poor stupid as- decesion .

It was a 15 year old boy driving a car he took without the owner knowing with his 14 year old girlfriend in the car. They both died. He was from Henry Co, she was from Oldham Co. Sometimes good people make bad decisions and that has consequences and sadly these 3 died over a bad decision. Instead of being on here arguing about stupidity and not knowing the facts why don't you stop and pray for the families and friends they left behind. If you are adults like all of you claim to be, act like it. Or at least watch the news.

He had pot in the car, had been drinking and was driving at 15 ... He had only been dating her for a few weeks ... his mother needs to be charged with something ... and why was she allowed to enter into a strange car ... bad parenting on all parts ... RIP. The kids deserved better than this ... why do adults suck so much these days - parent your kids and stop trying to be their friends ...

Are you even serious right now? No one knows what was in that car. No tests have came back to say if he was drinking. Are you clueless? I guess so it says you live in Lexington so you aren't here to know what's really going on. How can you even ask why was she allowed in a strange car... She snuck out! I'm sure you did it as a teenager. How are they going to charge his mother? Charge her with what? He wasn't even home. They were young and snuck out and he took a car. How dare you get on here and act like you know what the hell is going on when it's obvious you don't have a damn clue.

Ok, I've read all the posts. First off, I doubt very seriously that the officer who initiated the traffic stop, went on duty that night, with intentions of seeing two teenagers killed. Secondly, the officer did use his radio, that's why two other officers witnessed this horrific crash, while they were sitting still. Thirdly, if the parents would have known where their babies were, they would still be alive. I can guarantee you, the officers involved will never forget what they saw that night, and the parents will always wonder what they could have done prevent this. As a parent and police officer, I see too many times where parents place blame on police, when their kids have a run in with the law. Bottom line- parents, know where your kids are and what they are involved in at all times! This isn't Mayberry! Boy driving without license, girlfriend in car, no headlights on, running from police= no good result! We as a community should take this as lesson, not a chance to criticize police. Those officers have little children too! Dont think for one minute, they liked the result. They see senseless death and hurt, everyday. The deserve a thank you! Everybody else involved were sleeping while they were ON SCENE and thinking about two young lives lost. I bet their first nightmare was, having to tell the parents. Don't blame the police! They did the job they were sworn to do. I'm glad I wasn't working, I've seen enough of this stuff. Once again- parents, watch your children closely!

Sorry sir, you are wrong, yep , I said you are wrong. I'm a policeman and know more about this incident than you ever will! I wasn't a bully in school either. I just had a dream of helping people and keeping people from getting hurt. Luckily I've fulfilled my dream. By the way, I was well liked in school too! After policing my community for more than 15 years, I'm still well liked, even by those who I've had to discipline. Chances are, you are friends with or know someone who has a policeman in their family. I bet they are loved as human beings also. You my friend, need to think about one thing------ if I were working your beat at 3 am, and a 911 call came in that you were the victim of a home invasion----- rest assured, me and a few of my " bully" friends, would put everything aside, and come to your aide. If a dog ran out in front of you, causing you to flip your $ 100,000 income vehicle, and left you trapped, one of my " bully" friends, would be there shortly. We would help you. I pray for people like you! Next time you see a policeman in your local gas station, eating donuts and drinking coffee----- go up and thank him. He or she might have just seen a child die. You my friend, need to realize that just because you make double the salary of the uniformed " bullies", you are not one penny better. Do you go to church? If you do, I hope you're tithing. You make a lot of money. Just remember , we " bullies" are just a phone call away. Call me anytime ---- my number is 911.

Appalachian American what were you thinking? You are just wrong! Parent who cares (police officer) very well said.

I happen to be someone who loves a policeman. He is not only the dearest man I have ever met, he is the most attentive and caring father ever. He has a calling on his life - to help others by being a police officer. Who else would do this often dangerous and thankless job? It takes a dedication and selflessness that few people can manage.

Thank you to our dedicated officers - who do their best to help all of us - even the ones who seem to dislike them.

Too many police.

Better roads, better schools, better jobs & activities for teens & twenties.

The youth of today wear running shoes to run from police. A.I. or DUI cost $2,000 in legal fees, lose of license and overnite in Jail. All for the sin of a swig of alcohol. A .080 at body weight of young person, is simply a shot of alcohol.

The pigs of this County, and that's what they are would rather hassle our youth than go after the Meth cookers. How could we have a Meth problem in this County when we have way too pigs on patrol?

Open a good County Marina, a park on the river, buy the quarry for a park, widen the roads are fire half the pigs in this County. We would all bs better served.

The County Attorney should grow some balls and arrest that Policeman for Manslaughter. He has committed a worse crime than anybody he ever put in the back seat of his County Owned Cruiser!

I'm ashamed of the Police & Administration of this County. This would be a nice place to live if the cops were not so ignorant nor to hunt down our teenagers who were just being kids.

We need to thin out the number of pigs in this County. Maybe then the County wouldn't be in such debt to provide a cushy retirement from such hazardous jobs as running down our teenagers.

And the whores of the pigs wouldn't have the time or money to give their stupid, self serving& ignorant opinion on Topix!

It's time to disband Oldham County Police & LaGrange Police.

These pigs got away with running over Dr. Pollard Son, so they will get away with running down these latest teenagers? I'm abhorred that these pigs are allowed to use this good County's name. The best, richest County in the South is being ruined by too many pigs with ignorant attitudes, a badge and arrest quotas to fill.

Fiscal Court you should demand attendance at next meeting of all Police (pig) department employees, Jail employees & Sheriff Dept. employees. Then have your beloved Stan Clark tell County the entire obligation to this County of this County fatted pig.

A better approach would be close down these unnecessary pig farms and give Sheriffs Dept., money for 2 to 3 extra Deputies. And for God's sake don't allow these pigs stand before the Court to fish for: "Thank You for your service..." quotes. That only cheapens the phrase for our Heroes.

Fiscal Court is blowing the best/richest County in the Sourh and would be better off without unnecessary police/pig departments. County gave department best of everything and they run down our youth with County police cars, hassle our youth & demand hazardous pay, overtime & Thank Yous.

The take away- Olham County is ASHAMED of the police.
