I just love the fact that they unveil this to the Ciity Council and not the Crestview Citizens..... How about access to a document so that we too can comment on the plan.... Oh, I'm sorry, I only need to be infomed when publick officials are being elected, after that they will take care of me. SILLY me. Now back to my scheduled reality.....

Funny we can't handle the traffic now, but we want growth, growth, and more growth. Crestview wasn't origionally set up to become a large city with basically one road through it. Whats next, city going to buy all the buildings along one side of the road, and widen the lanes? Seems like the only choice. Maybe we better hope all the military thats moving here will shop in Ft. Walton Beach. All of transients city folk know what its like to take an hour and half to get home from work which is only 10 miles away, remember, thats one of the reasons we moved here. Don't worry guys, you'll get used to the wait, go ahead text someone to help you pass the time.

Yeah, all the "added value" reasons I moved here are dissapearing fast. I'm not trying to hold back progress, but I think crestview should capitalize on the things that made it unique rather than trying to cater to the crowd.

Is a loosing game, we cant compete with the beaches, we can't compete with the fancy shopping centers, we can't compete with a large restaurant selection.... But why should we? We have outdoor activities (Canoeing, Horse Back Riding, Camping), we have little holes in the wall that are not main stream, our people are unique (for good or bad), people still wave at me when I'm driving down Airport Rd, Old Bethel, Lake Silver, Auburn, Locke Ln, etc. I still see people having picnics at Twin Hill Park, playing a pickup game of Softball at the Old Spanish Trail Park... We still have hayrides and bonfires when the weather cools down....

Yeah we may not be perfect, but is perfect enough for me.... BTW, I was not born, nor raised in this town. But I now call it my home.....

What happened to the idea of a bypass? The business owners in Crestview make me sick! What, are all city council members also business owners? They are so afraid of losing a few dollars they won't even consider helping support the option of a bypass. The traffic here is rediculous! I was born here but I hate being associated with our town leaders who haven't learned anything over time. When I was small one or two rich business owners had control over everything and everyone suppressing the city's growth forcing us to shop in Ft. Walton and Pensacola in order to get a decent price for anything. When will things change for the better?

Unfortunately the business owners along 85 in town cant afford any less business than they now get. Crestview is growing in other ways too, electric, water, and I believe gas just went up again, minimum wage has gone up 3 times in the last 2 years and is going up again in a couple of months. Florida taxes and workmens comp is higher than most southern states this includes the unfair tangable tax, and the city just started charging for fire inspections which were never before paid for. The economy gets worse and our great state keeps killing the business man. The bypass would be great because it would open new roads and road sides for new businesses away from town, but people in this area are now crazy in the ideas of what their properties are worth, and that slows down the state buying their properties. I see everyones point on this one, kind of damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

"The Department of Transportation will take public comments on the Highway 85 proposal at the Crestview City Council Meeting next Monday night (April 27).
City officials say if the plan is approved, it would still take several years to get funding and begin work."
Now the article failed to mention the time and place of the meeting.

Great Information, Information! Now it would be nice if they would have the meetings around 7:30 PM so we would be able to get off work and time to drive there.
