Why aren't there any skimmers out in Destin getting the sludge before it comes to the beach?

We are still going to go to Destin in July oil or no oil. My parents took me every year growing up and we are taking them now. They are both handicapped and in bad health. This may be my Daddy's last time to get to go with me. He can barely get around. He had a stroke and when he was in the hospital I prayed he would get to walk down the beach with me one more time. When I was little I held onto his finger on our walks down the beach.(I held onto that finger when he was in the hospital) We always had that last walk before we left every year to say goodbye to Destin and that we would be back next year to take our walk. This is a sentimental trip this year. The oil has got to hold off a little longer!

You are from Arkansas, so I doubt the toxic oil could harm your brain. Have fun splashing around. You may want to get brown bathing suits and beach towels. Don't let daddy slip on the oil and Bon voyage!

Ignore the person from NC. All his posts are the ravings of an insensitive, immature mind.

I went out at 6:30 AM to Crystal beach in Destin. It was high tide and there were no sign of tar balls. Of course that could change in a moment but just giving an up to date report on my section of the beach. No smell either.

It's gone with the wind Jesse, just like the future of the Gulf of Oilico.

"Ignorance is bliss" seems very happy. Think about it. He's just letting us know how ignorant he is.

"Ignorance is bliss" is devastated by the BP oil spill, but is using sarcasm as a coping mechanism. Just ignore it and remember that we all have a way of coping with trauma.

We will arrive in Destin next Thursday...oil or not. Our family has loved Destin for many years in all her beauty. We will still support her now.
We know we may not be able to enjoy the beach or the water as we have so many times...but we can still help in some small way. We will eat out and buy groceries, play golf and enjoy other outings there. I hope and pray that somehow this disaster is repairable. I cannot imagine not having this area of the Gulf in our lives for years to come.

And to all coming to visit us I extend my sincere Thanks :-) I'm a stylist at ULTA and the trickle down effect this is having on everyone living here is difficult!

Please don't forget we also have other beautiful places on the gulf coast... ie: tubing, canoeing or zip lining on the Black Water River. Turkey Creek park in Niceville (20 min from Destin); the water temp there is 68 degrees year round!

We appreciate everyone who visits, lives and works here, and all who are fighting to save our wildlife on the gulf coast.

Thank You :)
