As long as people shop at Wal-mart all of the specialty stores will be closing. Just a matter of time.

Walmart has nothing to do with this. They do not have a decent bookstore. And stop blaming Walmart for everything "specialty" stores closing. Specialty stores have a nitch in the economy. Generally they are too expensive. These bookstores could not compete with Barnes and Nobles well at least there you could buy a book and drink a cup of coffee.

I blame it all on Geo. Bush! He and NCLB are the reason children can not read.

"Marxist Socialism"? Hardly accurate, but even if it was, I'd prefer it to the Corporate Plutocracy we were subjected to under Bush/Cheney.

Well if the specialty shops would lower their prices maybe people wouldn't shop at Walmart. I'm sorry but with today's economy I will go anywhere I can to save money. Why would I want to pay $19.95 for a book at Waldenbooks when I can get the same exact book for $9.99 at Walmart?

That was exactly my point. It wasn't meant to be negative.

You took my post the wrong way. Never blamed Wal-mart. I shop there all the time. My point was simply this, specialty stores are way over priced. The economy is really bad these days and if these shops want to stay open they will have to lower their prices so they can compete with Wal-mart.

Pres. Bush is still getting the blame. The blame falls at the feet of our President Obama. He hasn't yet taken responsibility, for all the spending. Our current president is spening us to oblivian with means that our children and their children will have to pay for the irresponsibility of this president.
So get over it and open your eyes tio see what actually is happening now, not in the past.

Sorry, I took it the wrong way. Usually people on here bash Wal-Mart for all kinds of reasons. I love their cheap prices and today you got to save where you can.

NCLB has always been a joke. Decent schools have gotten worse and the crappy schools are looking better because they can teach for 'the test'. I actually heard a 3rd grader say she was relieved the test was over so they could actually learn something in school last year.

you need to get over it and open your eyes and see we are paying for the past,,,,stupid people understand 8 years dirt and 1 year you expect to get it cleaned up...it will never happen, but the whole 8 years you didnt have anything to say....
