Yeah, vote no boys, and another company leaves the area. Realism, in todays economy you need the company a lot more than they need you.
Many areas would welcome the company and many currently unemployed workers would be more than happy to work for the company.
But, vote no boys.

Hey Tip, until you work with this company 26 - 28 years and put up with the crap that we have, and know all that facts, your comments are pointless. No doubt a college grad that sits his fat ass behind a desk and is anti-union, just remember when it comes time to downsize, you non-union college boys are the first to go.

Just curious about your post concerning the "real world". What is that suppose to mean. Do these guys work in FantasyLand at Disney World? Did not someone suffer a severe burn injury at Vivtaulic. Is that not the "real world" Why is it that wehn someone wants a raise, it is the end of the world, they live in a fantasy world, they should be shot at high noon- all because they want a raise to pay for PPL rates going up 30%, RCN price increase, tuition rate increases at state colleges, LANTA bus rides going up, parking at Pa. State football games, Turnpike tolls, textbook costs, food and clothing expenses and the cost to eat at a restaurant are creeping up there. When do these people who raised prices start to live in the "real world". When do we ask the restaurant managers if they are living in the real world. When will PPL lower their rates instead of the headline I saw in Sunday's paper that says PPL reports an 85 million dollar profit. Why is it that the workers- union and non-union- are the only ones not in the real world.

I know what happened here and that is that you read this nonsense posts and then become a parrott and repeat what others have said. Try thinking for yourself if you are going to post on these issues and think before you write.

Hey Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:

Is this the "real world"

PPL Corp. reports $85 million profit on higher energy prices

You bet it is the "real world" and the people are paying for it. I guess the meager raise Victaulic was asking for would be used up to pay for the PPL increases. I guess the workers will have to wait for next contract before they go out to buy their condo in Florida. After all, this is the "real world that these workers need to be aware of. By the way Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, what a goofy name, when was the last time you bought a pump from Victaulic?????

Yep.

No concessions, Victaulic moves south or to China.

Union demands are as anachronistic as their leadership.

Quit and find work elsewhere if it's so bad there.

Seriously, is no one in America suppose to get a raise. I take it you work in a non-union company or organization. If you are given a raise, will you turn it down?

The people at Victaulic make pumps. How many do you buy in a year. What would it matter if they get a raise and simply used it to pay the PPL hike that was imposed. Read my post above. With what they want in their current contract, they will not be putting their raise on a condo in Florida.

I saw on the stock market channels where it was reported that real wages went up less than a point and that was not looked upon in a positive way by Wall St. So what is one to do. Explain it to me all knowing. Should people give back from their paychecks to their companies? Will you give back money to your company? Why do you need the money but with the Victaulic workers it appears to be a crime.

You are absolutely right. I forgot that. Along with everything else that is going up except workers salaries.

Seriously, don't you get a feeling that the owners or businessmen are capitalizing on the attitude that prevails that no one should get a raise because of the economy. I keep hearing on the stock market channels that businesses are hestitant to hire. They are not hesitant. Instead they are reaping the benefits of lower wages, less workers, less benefits, and they do not have to worry about the workers asking for a raise. The economy is terrible.

headlines:

PPL makes 85 million in profits. Why couldn't they hire a few people to help the economy grow? I am not sure but that may have been for this quarter. Not bad especially since they raised rates 30%.
