Former sheriff admits guilt in nepotism case

Landon T. Smith resigned as Noble County sheriff in May. He was sentenced yesterday.

Nepotism ???? I wonder just how mnay other county Sheriff's have hired sons and daughters and wives and brother in laws etc and have never been questioned about it. Does the Ohio Ethics Commission and the Attorney General intend to look into this ? Did the current Attorney General Run an Ad on TV that pictured a father & son One the Sheriff and the other a Deputy in the Same Sheriff's Department to show the AG's support for being tough on crime ????
Can David Yost further expnad the investigation on Nepotism by Sheriff's and will the AG come out with a ruling .... You can't burn one old time Sheriff and let others slide by now can you ????

Yea, the sad thing about this and what is FAILED to be reported is the wife of the Sheriff and other family member have been deuties for over 17 and 10 years, respectively!! Just another example of Dave Yost trying to toot his own horn to gain attention for a run of State office!! Read any paper in Noble County or talk to 99% of the people down there and they will tell you they support the Sheriff 100%. Once again people, don't believe everything you read! I am sure if we looked at everything Yost has done while in office he would be out too!!

There is no Wal-Mart in Noble County. That means that Mrs. Smith drove a cruiser, off-duty, to neighboring Washington County or Guernsey County, either way a distance of 20-25 miles.

This action is long over due. The people of Noble County would like to know what all the charges were. I believe we have the right to know. The people that believe smith was a good sheriff should talk to some of the people that was treated wrong by him. I am one of those people. We should all come together and see if we can bring charges against him. Personally I feel he obstructed justice more than a couple of times in 37 years. The good thing is he wont do it again. I feel he should have been punished to the fullest extent of the law.
