I was in the Navy and I had a choice to make. 1) transfer to new jersey and go to sea duty leaving the wife and children at home in a strange city and state for 6 months of sea. 2)Leave the Navy, stay there and wear ourselves down looking for answers and trying to find a job 1000 miles from any family support. 3)Go back to our hometown that April knew about and could contact us while still having immediate family support. It was a hard decision to make but I still had a family to support and stress to deal with. You want to know what stress can do, 18 months later my wife had a massive heart attack and was in and out of a coma for 2 weeks. without family support I don't know how we could have made it. I made the right decision for my family which you may or may not agree with but I'm right with it. My wife's doing okay now but that's after 2 angioplasties 1 stint and a double bypass (followed by a single bypass in the same day)There's your answer Try not to choke on it

It's a terrible thing, losing a child. Even worse, is to lose one and not have a clue as to where she is, or is she still alive. I can't imagine the pain a family feels when a child is murdered by some freak just because he wants to. You can deal with an accident (barely), but for some stranger to choose YOUR child to fulfill his degenerate cravings is almost unbearable!

If that is you, Hazel, then you really shouldn't be reading these public comment things. It's just a bunch of crazy internet moles ranting out all their anger at random people anonymously. If they think they actually managed to insult someone, they'll most likely derive some sense of pride from it. Especially the "blame the parents" crowd. They spend all day hunting for stories where they can make their profound contribution to the dialogue by saying "hey, where were the parents!"

I would like to know where THEIR parents were when they post stupid and insensitive comments on the internet!

His point is that, in order to be there for his wife, he needed to quit the Navy and find another job, and the best place to do that is your hometown where you have family members there to help you through the transition. THey also needed the hometown support for his wife's health problems.

Fruitcake, what do you know about anything? You look at one picture and read one article and all of a sudden you're an expert witness, huh? What's a 15 year old supposed to look like? Pigtails and a lollipop? April wasn't a problem child at all... she used to tell me I should think about going to church sometime! In her last year she did start hanging out with the wrong crowd, but so do a lot of kids. Not all parents are going to keep their kids chained to their bedpost and dictate who they'll hang out with and who they won't. I don't think that's necessarily good parenting, because you're not letting a child learn to make their own value judgements if you do it for them. So stop trying to be a psychologist and go back to flipping burgers.

My family is quite disturbed by this news. My little sister and I have spent more than one night at George's home, when he lived in Kingston, RI., when our older sister was in a relationship with him. We were visiting with our sister and his children...at least I hope they were actually his children. The alternative is sickening. This was about 14 years ago, before April dissapeared.

It could have been any one of us...

I have been following this story on many message boards and it is obvious that people are both moved and outraged by this story. The amount of passion and energy people have expressed about protecting our children from predators like Mr. Leniart is incredible.
Now is the time to take all this energy and apply it to preventing something like this from happening again.

First order of business is to make sure Mr.Leniart never, ever, ever gets out of prison! He is an egomaniac who can not keep from bragging. Therefore, I am certain somebody out there has more information about the April Pennington case but has not come forward, yet. I also believe a sexual predator like Mr. Leniart has numerous other victims whom have not come forward, yet. Either way, if, you have any legitimate information about this sexual predator, please contact the authorities immediately. April’s murder case is not over until Mr. Leniart is convicted. The authorities can use all the help they can get to close the book on this Killer.

The next order of business is for all of us to e-mail the Governor and other elected officials of this state demanding stricter laws for repeat offenders. Sexual crimes against our children are in my mind the most serious of all crimes and therefore, they should carry the most severe penalties.

The time has come to realize that sexual predators can not and will not be rehabilitated. Our government has an obligation to protect the law abiding citizens against the dregs of society. If these sexual offenders must be out and about in society, I want all of them wearing GPS devices, and I want them with specially marked photo IDs and license plates.

Parents act now, the next child saved might be your own!

pj is now servin jail time lol for another case for rape and kidnapping hmmmmm? looks good on him. there`s just something missing in this story and im afraid it`ll go to the grave w/ george and pj they are the 2 men who realy know what went on that awful night(i am one of the many witness in montville). i have writin pj and am waitin for response. i was part of that rought crawd but no affense we werent hard just kids looking for exceptince from someone.
when i look back now thou all my friends are either died (rip eric wilcox and ryan turner).(who were also witnesses) or in jail pj,etc... or there in and out of rehab wont mention any names on that one... well i just hope one day they could figure out where the body is so that her family could have her put to rest finaly.if any one would like to talk about this my email is [e-mail]

I just wanted to say sorry to the mother of april and that. george will get what is coming to him either here on earth or in hell where is going.. I'm the 13 year old girl george raped in his trailer.He is a very sick man and deserves to get the death penalty..as Pj also Pj was my bf for over 4 yrs and the whole time he was cheating on me and he was a loser.. even more of a loser cause he looked up to this piece of garbage..
