MEGNA sounds like a typical SLUMLORD. Neglect the taxes, neglect the property, whine about the added charges when the city forecloses, cry that the tenants don't pay him enough (and usually that he gave them a big break when he let them move in), gripe about the cost to evict the miserable tenant and complain that HE's NOT MAKING ENOUGH MONEY ON HIS INVESTMENT, yada, yada yada

The whole foreclosure system is a ripoff. A handful of politically connected marshals and lawyers have made many millions of dollars out of the system. Can it be a coincidence that out of hundreds of marshals only a select few get this lucrative foreclosure work? A coincidence that out of thousands of law firms in the state, only two are allowed todo foreclosure work? I don't think so. This stinks worse than three day old fish.

There are honest marshals who do a needed service, sometimes under difficult conditions, and do not overcharge or cheat the public. All we have to do is examine the records of those obviously corrupt and arrogant marshals who are above the law. If the Marshals Commission does not question the decency of this behavior, regardless of whether this process slipped thru the written law, they are complicit. If the legislature does not fix this now they are also complicit. This issue is disgusting. Who in our government will take this on? Apparently nobody gives a ------.

Megna is a cry baby wrote: http://www.jud2.ct.gov/housing /display_docket.asp?dno=NHSP-0 85976 (Click the above link) Holy cow... Megna uses a State Marshal to evict a tenant that didn't pay him rent... wow, the Hartford Courant really researched this Megna guy before they quoted him... Sounds like a eal fraud to me. He fails to pay his own taxes, while owning other property that he evicts people out of, all the while he is getting a state paycheck and a private paycheck... NOW THAT WHAT I CALL DOUBLE-DIPPING. Way to go Courant for yet another story about nothing, Seinfeld could have done a whole show on this Megna thing Ha! Ha! I'd LOVE to see him try and find a Marshal now that will serve anything for him!

The whole foreclosure system rots from the head. The system is geared to allowing a select few to profit from the distress of others. There is only one explanation for why only a tiny group of the state marshals and law firms are allowed to participate. Someone's palm is getting greased. There is no other logical explanation.

You people talk without knowing how the system works. A lawyer can hire any marshal he wants, he is not obligated to spread the work around. If you have a good marshal, you stick with him. If a guy fixes your car good are you going to use another mechanic or stick with the good one? Same with law firms. All these lawyers whining about how they cant get forclosure work. The truth is they could not afford to do the work at the low fees that are charged by the 2 big firms, its all in the volume of work.

Isn't it interesting that the two law firms that control foreclosure work in Connecticut, Bendett and McHugh, and Hunt and Liebert, both use Fiorillo to do service of process for them. The lawyers at both firms see each and every bill submitted by Fiorillo and the lawyers obviously know that these bills are ludicrous. Yet the lawyers don't care because it is the poor homeowners who have to fork over the money for these exorbitant marshal fees. I just wonder how many struggling homeowners lost their home because these poor souls could not come up with an extra few hundred dollars to pay Fiorillo's absurd bills. And I hold the lawyers at the two law firms responsible for choosing to hire a marshal who is willing to gouge people. In my home country of India, this could never happen.

In other states the process servers and attorneys have to compete for foreclosure work. Because they have to compete the fees are much lower and a distressed homeowner is not socked with outrageous fees such as four hundred dollars to deliver a piece of paper. What a job. You drive down the block, toss a piece of paper on somebody's front lawn and bill four hundred dollars. The lawyers are not any better either. Since they do not have to compete for the work they can charge whatever they want. Everyone knows that these fellows do not get the work through honest competition. It's called greasing the old palm.
