The DP, as usual, is too soft on the criminals. After the second DUI, there should be a mandatory DEATH PENALTY! Might not stop drunks from driving, but would clear up the roads and make them a lot safer for everyone else! These drunks knowingly take a drink, then drive. That isn't "involuntary", its as "voluntary" as it gets. Put them to death and give them a taste of what they dish out to the public!

The first step is to get the state out of the liquor business. The state supplies the drug and then wants to punish people. Our society has accepted booze and all of its ills. Drunk driving is bad. The police, however, link alcohol to accidents, if you've drank within the past 24 hrs.

No one who consumes alcohol can be trusted if they own a car. Including those we hire to enforce the drunk driving laws. The only way to stop this is for mandatory installations of breathalyzers in all cars new and used. We've already done that with emissions control systems. That way nobody can start a car who is intoxicated. How many thousands of people have to die every year before we stop it altogether.

Agreed!!! If you don't use the right key to start your vehicle, it won't start. Why not something like this? People that don't want to have to breathe first, they can ride bicycles. How about an added charge to Drunk Driving automatic Reckless Endangerment. Would make the penalty stiffer and more of a punishment.
