I have known the feiler family for over 20 years...went to school with all three children...and have been good friends of both daughters. It blows my mind thinking that cody is being charged with murder. Never in a million years would I think he is capable of such crimes. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Cody's Dad and Mom were sweet Christian people with a passion for art. Cody's father worked for my Dad. My mom sometimes baby sat cody who was the same age as me. I also went to high school with cody. He was very gentle as a kid and teen. I am not sure what occured in his adult life, but it sounds like severe mental illness.

The man accused of murder in the death of an Alta Sierra man last February has been deemed mentally incompetent to stand trial. 30 year old Cody Feiler allegedly struck 75 year old James Turner in the head with a piece of wood near the Alta Sierra Airport February 10th. Turner died days later from the brain injury. Nevada County District Attorney, Cliff Newell says criminal proceedings against Feiler were suspended yesterday after Feiler’s defense attorney advised the judge that a mental evaluation had found Feiler mentally incompetent to assist in his own defense or to stand trial.

“From here he’ll go into the custody of CDCR, the state prison system to one of their hospitals and what the focus will be once he gets to that place is stabilizing his mental situation so that he can thereafter assist his council in his defense.”

Feiler will be placed in a secured state hospital and is scheduled to be back in court on June 16 for an evaluation hearing to review that he is getting the mental health care that he needs.
