this is unbelievable! why in the world wouth this woman leave her kids in france (of all places!). and why? with whom? omg! why doesnt the mother have the children, and why does this grandmother! how sad for the kids. jail is exactly where this woman belongs, regardless of her age. how could she board a plane to come back to the states and leave her grandchildren there. this makes NO sense. again, the whole story isnt there,

The grandmother had custody of the children because neither parent met the court requirements to gain custody. The grandmother took them there to visit their father. She left them there with the father and grandfather to come back here and go before the judge.

While I think a child should be with their biological parents whenever possible, that is not always in the best interest of the child. Giving birth does not automatically make you a good parent.

IF THE CHILDREN WERE TAKEN AWAY FROM THEIR MOTHER TO BEGIN WITH, MAYBE THE GRANDMOTHER UNDERSTOOD THEIR BEST INTEREST. WHICH WAS TO KEEP THE CHILDREN AWAY FROM TRASH, EVEN IF IT WAS HER OWN DAUGHTER. I SAY KEEP THE CHILDREN WHERE THEY ARE BECAUSE THIS GOVERNMENTAL DEPARTMENT OFCHILDREN AND FAMILY AFFAIRS IS WORSE THAN THEM BEING WITH THEIR GRANDMOTHER, ANYDAY. WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO, PUT THEM IN A FOSTER HOME, WHERE ABUSE, NEGLECT AND COMPLETE CONFUSION FOR CHILDREN THAT AGE CAN HAPPEN. LEAVE THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF THE LIVES OF EVERYONE!!!!!

I think that Judge Foster is being pretty closed-minded and stupid... like he's always been.

My son and several other neighborhood boys found their way before Judge Foster on more than one occasion as they were growing up. I found him to be very reasonable and more than fair. He is not an old prude who has grown narrow minded...He Will look out for the best interest of the child. he understands that all parents are not perfect...and neither are all kids...he finds the best solution possible.

The kids are safe and happy with their grandfather and myself in a very civilized and beautiful country whose emassy and pertinanant agencies join my family in disbeliving horror at this obvious injustice done against them. Although return is imminent I am not confident that the best interests of the children will be this courts priority. The biological mother abandoned them for over six years with no contact at all. She went to jail 13 times during this period for various alcohol and violence issues (one involving the assault of a corrections officer), and only after this long period of silence did she finally attempt visitation. The children had been in my mothers custody without incident all this time and they grew to see her as the only mother they had. At present they are completely disheartened that the supposed 'good guys' of the system they've been taught to respect and obey are behind the wrongful imprisonment of their 'MOM', and the violent upheval of their until now happy and healthy enviornment. Again, the kids have never been left alone! When they were'nt with their grandmother they were with their father (me). This has been the case all their lives and after being counselled twice at different times (3 months ago and 4 years ago), they were found to be happy, healthy, well adjusted , intelligent, artistically developed children in a warm and loving enviornment. What would provoke anyone to disrupt such a thing?

Hello, I'm the older of the two grandchildren in France. I saw the letters on this site and some made me happy but some made me sad. I want my grandmom out of jail and my family back the way it was. Last night my sister Melody cried because our mom (grandmom)is in jail. I don't know my real mom but I do know one thing, she's never been there for us! All I want s my grandmom.

If I were you I would not bring the children back into this situation. Surely, there is someone your family could appeal to in order to get your mother released without having to bring the children back here.

I can't believe the stupidity, cruelty, and injustice involved in this case. It's no wonder you went to France. Bringing those children to the USA from France is like throwing them to the wolves. Keep the children in France.
Perhaps, the President of the USA can pardon the grandmother.

My children were just brutally torn from their grandfathers' arms by this judges order. They stepped off the plane into their cold, insensitive hands, thus solidifying their abusive directive. There is no doubt now that something entirely lawless and heartless is taking place at the will of those who do not care in the least about the effect of their actions on my beautiful children. They are in a foster situation with strangers that I have not personally screened, therefore I call upon any authority higher than this judge to step in and let true justice be had for Zachary Nathan and Melody Sienna Barcaro.

This 'tommy salami' clown has no idea the seriousness of this matter. He makes a nonsensical joke about our family, and then posts it in this forum...My mother is hurting for herself and the children from this horrible separation, and she is crying out for the support of all who believe in true justice and the sanctity of family and home. Perhaps someone who cares for the rights of children will enter this scene and restore order to the present chaos. My family's funds were severely depleted by this court action and their home (the children's home) has been under threat of foreclosure twice since all this took place. The kids want to go home to the only mom they know, yet the powers that be keep dragging their feet.

I am usually a very optimistic person, and for good reason. I have been extremely fortunate in life amidst many shattering circumstances. I don't have the habit of looking on the dark side, but I desperately need to see justice appear for my children immediately before they show more signs of their abusive abduction by the Nassau county court system. I am unable to directly communicate with them but I've been getting reports of extreme depression and withdrawl. They are sweet loving kids , used to being loved and cared for by myself and my parents. How long must they be forced to endure this hardship?! The mother, whose rights are the only ones that the judge is concerned with has once again landed herself in jail (15 times in the last six years) for drunk driving. What is the hidden gangster tactic that has fuled the whole event here? How can such injustice against children go on with no reprisal from some higher authority? Where are the voices of intolerance when two dear children become entangled in a system rife with numerous cases of incompetence and failure? I want freedom for Zachary and Melody!!! I want their human rights restored and never ripped from them again! This entire case has been a true example of unchecked powed gone awry. Not once have the actual documented events been allowed to bring the court up to date, lawyers willing to work as 'friends of the court' or pro bono have been told to shut up, and all the while my children wait in a foster home for someone to tell them the hurting is over...You're free to go home. I'm sure there is something that can be done if the right person gets wind of this.

I am very happy to report that the kids have been returned to my family and although I am not able to have a visit until the judge okays it, I am confident that things will progressively get better. To all who care and have been supportive I thank you.

Whatever lack of coherency this person obliviously deems unnecessary, the statement itself bears witness to the type of support garnered by those who stand up for drunk and drugged abscentee mothers. Completely illiterate and ill informed people should refrain from voicing their pitiful opinions, but I know that idiocy rarely has the foresight to make statements based on rational thought. No problem,...I'm used to dealing with jackasss idiots since this whole thing occured. Scott, you are a total ass. Say your sewage to my face, you sack of recycled puke! My patience for you losers is over!

James, you sound like my ex-wife. She was always down grading me in front of my child. I wound up getting custody. Letting your children read this forum and hearing the way you talk about your ex-wife(even if she is the drunk, druggy you say) makes me loose any respect for you. You may be smarter than us but you're a long way from being a great parent and I'm sure that's what Judge Foster has seen. As a father I believe the children should make the choice on whether their mother or father are good or bad and not with your one sided help.

i read my post over and over and i dont see anywhere that i said i support the mother...if she is an unfit parent, fine, she shouldnt have custody..especially if she is a drunk and/or drug addict..what i said you moron is she broke the law..doesnt matter what her intentions were...SHE BROKE THE LAW AND THEREFORE THE LAW MUST BE ENFORCED....so before you spew your anger at me, maybe you should try following the law and dont present yourself as a sorry person yourself....
