I am looking for the FULL list of Morgan County's most wanted. But thanks anyway!
It would be good if they posted that information every week in the Lake Sun Leader.

I wouldn't say way to go Morgan county SO, all they do is list them in the paper & wait for someone to call them, no real work on their part! I say way to go citizens of Morgan County! Seems to me the SO does less & less , most times they are called out according to them "it's a civil matter"& or wait for someone to tell on someone else. They just ride around in their cars , eat, stop people & harrass them ECT..... Like last night on the scanner Had a report of 2 men fighting at the church, & 2 shots fired, instead of going right to the church & trying to stop someone from being killed , No they met the reporting party at dahls , got a statement , waited for more backup( there were 3 cop cars there as far as I could tell) ECT....... Then when they got there men were gone , caught up with one of them I guess & had dispatch to call at the hospitals & see if someone had come in with a gunshot wound. Sounds like a bunch of cowards with guns & badges to me!If not for the citizens calling with info they probably wouldn't make a real arrest in a month!

Apparently you don't consider their (the deputies) safety when there is a report of shots fired.
Would you go to that location alone?
Calling the deputies cowards shows your ignorance and lack of common sense.

If there is an excess of criminal activity in Morgan County, it cannot be blamed solely on the Sheriff Department. Any police officer would get discouraged if after catching a criminal, the Prosecutor does not apply the full letter of the law, and/or some soft headed Judge gives the thug Probation. Marvin Opie only seems to prosecute someone when he sees some personal advantage. The number of convicted drug felons, and sexual predators living in this area should be a concern to everyone. So long as these misfits are allowed in the area, the reputation of the entire county will continue to suffer.

Beengone, I guess you don't know how to read , according to what I made out there were already 3 cop cars there! How many does it take for 2 men,I assume most cars have 2 cops in each? Even if there were only 1 in each , that would be 3 cops, NOT ALONE!!!I thought our tax dollars went to train them for situations like that? If they are trained to go to a shots fired situation with 3 cop"s, sit & wait for I don't know how many more??, While a citizen is being shot at , well there goes some more wasted tax dollars. I do believe they are allowed to carry guns? That is their job Moran, if they are to scared to help someone without having 5 or 6 of them , "they are cowards"!! I do however agree with seagate, there being so many criminal's in Morgan county can"t all be blamed on the cops , I do imagine they get tired of arresting these thug's just to have them be let out to either run or just be set free!

Did you mean, "Moron?" And you're so proud to be Stover born and raised. I'm sorry you feel you have to call names to get your point across. By the way, I can read and spell.
The deputies have certain protocol to follow. They are highly trained and put their lives on the line everyday. They are in no way cowards.

Seagate has a very good point. Opie only wants to prosecute for his own personal agenda. His "numbers" are very important to him. Opie has a real problem if the criminal wants a jury trial. Opie cannot present a case in court and win. The only hope he has is to make a deal and plea the criminal to a lesser charge, thus giving him his "conviction" to count toward his numbers.
It's too bad more people didn't vote against him. He only won by 112 votes, I believe. As far as the next 2 years goes Morgan County is stuck with Opie. Thank God he won't run again. He has over $100,000 a year and qualifies for his State retirement. The next prosecutor will have a mess on their hands when they see what Opie has created in his office. Good luck finding all the files that he hides and is afraid to prosecute.

if you think the depities are such cowards, next time you have an emergency call a crack head! see what happens. these men spend countless hours of their own free time learning how to better serve you. yes YOU! the unappreciative citizen. so grow up and realize that they have a thankless job and still do it to the best of their abilities so be appreciative.

Just for your information, contrary to your assumptions, there are hardly EVER two officers in one vehicle. On the off chance that there is a passenger riding, they're probably in training and in no way ready to be involved in a stand-off, not saying that they wouldn't do so.
How you could possibly DARE to call law enforcement as a whole "cowards", is completely beyond me. You have no idea what it's like to go into a situation like the one you mentioned on a fairly regular basis, unless you've done it, as law enforcement has. No, you sit at home in your recliner, listening to your scanner, shaking your fists and making all the wrong assumptions. You think that they're cowards for waiting for some back up before rushing right into a situation like that? Oh yes, I guess you're right. They should have rushed in there, one by one, as soon as they arrived on scene, just so there could be twice the death toll. Then, with the resulting shortage of officers, it'll take an awful long time for one to be able to respond to your house the next time your neighbor's dog is in your yard, the neighbor is drunk wandering your yard, or the neighbor/your girlfriend/your son WHOEVER, is standing in your yard drunk, with a gun pointed at you. Whatever the case may be. Enjoy.
And one last thing, do you think it's actually pleasing to law enforcement to have to go into a horrible situation in which someone is trying to kill others? Do you think they enjoy having to shoot and kill someone just to protect themselves and the community, and then turn around and have to confront that person’s family for the rest of their lives? How about dealing with the inner turmoil of knowing that you took a life, someone’s son/daughter, someone’s father/mother, you think that’s something officers and deputies WANT to have to face? Not to mention having their face plastered all over the media so that “everyone and their brother” knows who they are and what they did!! No, I can tell you they do not. No one with an ounce of humanity does. A little appreciation for these brave men and women would be nice.

A new website for all of Morgan County will be going live in about 1-2 weeks. On this site, within the Sheriff's Department, will be a list of Morgan County's most wanted and the sex offender list. It will be updated montly. You will be able to see the site at www.morgan-county.org (not live right now). This is a Morgan County initiative to provide information to its citizens.

I’m sure the deputies are very appreciative about your positive attitude about the SO, unfortunately there are not near enough Morgan County citizens out there that share your intelligence.

Well, I had a long response to this , but your response can only be 4000 word's long , so this one is short ( maybe not short enough for some of you). Yes, there are some very courages police officer's. No, we could never live without them. I think Stover cop's do a great job overall, I do know a couple at the Morgan County SO however that are COWARDS!I know nothing about the city cop's. Many years ago my Mother called 911 because my 2 Brothers were drunk & fighting each other, by the time they got there 1 brother had left & the other was passed out. When she opened the door she told them everything was ok, the first cop took out his gun, put it to her head & STOMPED HER BARE FOOT SO HARD IT TORE THE SKIN OFF, she carried that scar till the day she died. very COURAGES HUH!They arrested the sleeping brother & turned him loose to walk home the next day.I will carry that scar & many more till the day I die. As for enjoying shooting & killing someone I"m sure most grieve forever in their heart's , others brag about it(this I know for FACT!) and in Morgan County anyway ,they do not get their picture"s plastered in the paper when they kill someone , they don't even get their names in the paper, so I don't know where that come from?? So yes we do have some GREAT officer's , to bad they all aren"t!
