Why put a age on texting while driving. No one should drive and text. It should be a law in every state no texting while driving and enfoce that law (NOW)

I agree 100%. What happened to adults setting examples? I don't ask my teenager to do anything I wouldn't do when it comes to something like this. It's just good ole common sense! It makes me a nervous wreck to think I'm driving down the road meeting people texting. It's no different than meeting a drunk.

Amen! NO ONE should be driving if they aren't paying attention. I am not sure what the legislature was thinking with this age limit. Age doesn't matter. Focus on what you are doing people! Other people's lives are at risk every time you pull out of your driveway.

I agree 100% no texting while driving but how many are going to stop? Look what happened to Jim Bauer kill because someone texting.talking on a phone while driving should also be against the law. pull of the road to text or talk I say.

OK, I knew this would eventualy happen. For your information BullCrap, "someone" was NOT texting or talking on the phone when that accident happened. Where you there? Do you know what happened? My son's statement to the Highway Patrol was honest in his own words he said his phone vibrated and he looked down, but he did NOT answer the damn phone! He came over a hill and around a curve when a tractor pulling a trailer had traffic slowed and he did not have adequate response time to slow down. Yes, this was a horrible, tragic accident and members of Jim Bauer's family have talked personally to my son. Have you, BullCrap???? They know it was an accident and told my son they do not blame him. God called Jim and we do not know yet my son was the Gatekeeper. Brad Bauer's words exactly. So next time you want to say someone was killed, why don't you taken the time to check the facts? This is a heartbreaking situation for all of us, and for you to post something so obnoxious and untrue hurts. It really really hurts. Please do not respond to me. I agree texting and driving is wrong, but do NOT accuse or blame my son for that. I wish you people had the courage to use your real names instead of hiding behind your made up BULLCRAP. I would love to talk to you in person and set this record straight. Hope this does it for you and everyone.

Elizabeth, I know you don't need me or anybody else "telling you how it is" because you already know. But for those that just like to stir trouble....I'm gonna write it anyway.
For those of you that want to make up your own story as to how this accident happened - take note: it doesn't matter one bit to ANY of us what the details are...it doesn't change the outcome. You still end up with a man that lost his life and young man that is absolutely broken from the bottom of his toes to the top of his hair. It really doesn't matter if he was tap dancing in his car seat!!! So do everybody a favor and keep your speculations and made up stories to yourself. NOBODY knows what Trenton was doing but Trenton and unless HE said he was texting while driving it simply isnt' so. It is made up rumor and in a situation like this rumor has no place! YOU weren't in the car with him so you DO NOT KNOW.
Elizabeth, I know that it hurts to read this garbage, HOWEVER the people that care about you, your family and the Bauer family know the truth and are praying daily for your comfort and ease of pain. It's gonna take a long time. But try to hang on to the fact that God has everything under control. Once He has your mansion prepared, nothing keeps us here on earth. Jim's mansion was ready for him to move in. It's really that simple!!!
To everyone else....grow up. Try to stand in the shoes of these two families and think about how you would feel if folks were printing this kind of junk about you. I dare say you wouldn't like it one bit!! So I, along with plently of others, ask you to stop. Right now. There is enough pain in this world without you adding to it with thoughtless words.
The entire Bauer and Wilbanks families are in the prayers of the Robinson family and Bethlehem Baptist Church in Florence.

The paper for tommorrow reads---(-Eric Wilbanks charged with C&I and texting while driving under the age of 21.)

2 families whose lives will never be the same. I am so sorry to all who are involved. Before anyone throws stones remember we never know when we could be the one who makes a mistake.
Jim was a good man and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Peace be with all who are dealing with this.

I don't want to cause any problem for anyone here, but if Read on the internet is correct and that does come out in the paper then a few people here should appologize to bullcrap. I don't think that person mean't any evil by what he or she said I think it was all about talking and texing from what I can see. again I am not here to create any hard feelings. God Bless you all.

Ok if you were any kind of a person you would pray for the Bauer and Wilbanks familes instaead of getting on the computer and say mean, hurtful things that are not true. If your not in eather familes you shoulnt say false things about the horrible accident that has happen. For your FYI if the young man is charged with anything i think the family would know before you... Just putting that out there. The Bauer family and Wilbanks familys has exchanged words and if they dont Blame the young driver then nither should you. I will pray for you cause it sounds to me you dont have much of a life if all you do is get on Stove Topix and talk about things that has nothing to do with you.. I pray for both familes this is a time where Stover should stick together not point fingers.

the family may not want to press charges but the prosecuting attorney can and hopefully will...again were there any blood tests done on the young driver?

Not sure why "wondering" is pressing for information that is not there. I was at the scene. My son was checked out by an EMT, he was checked out by the Highway Patrol, he passed a breath alcohol test .000, I saw the results. Apparently there was no need for blood tests. This was an accident, plain and simple. Sorry if you can't understand or accept this. When my son and I left the scene, the Highway Patrol said they had to issue the C&I ticket (by mail) and it would be up to the PA if he chose to file additional charges. If the reporters at the Morgan County Press have obtained the information ahead of us, whatever, its their job. But again, I stand by my earlier statement, in his own words my son's statement to the Highway Patrol (I was standing right there) was that his phone vibrated and he looked down but did check it. If the PA wants to pursue charges on the texting while driving, he is not going to be able to prove it; it simply isn't true. Its politics; a new law, so they are going to try to make an example out of the first person that might fit the criteria. Everyone who is charged with a crime, is not necessarily convicted of that crime. So, RonaBarret, I will not offer any apology to BullCrap, but I will accept his/hers. "Read on the internet" and "wondering" please leave my son alone. I don't know how you people live with yourself by trying to make more out of this story than it is. Not only do you hurt me and my loved ones, but the Bauer's, who also care deeply for my son and all of my son's friends and family. Please, find a new topic and leave us alone!!! But, thank you so much to the many who have offered their prayers, support and love. I know I shouldn't have to bother with righting this story, because the negative people out there are going to believe what they will, but this is my son they are messing with and I will never give up on him or allow people to tear him down. He has to live with this tragedy for the rest of his life and he doesn't need this added to it. Please people, he is accepting responsibility for his actions. Just leave him alone.
