I am 21 years old and i grew up in a home where my stepfather did as he pleased. Especially when that related to me and my little sister and what he referred to as "private time". I am personally offended that this person is not spending the rest of his life locked up. I am curious to know why he is allowed to leave the state when he was only arrested one year ago. This man shouldnt have the right to see a family member, let alone lay his eyes on another child. If his family is not completely digusted they can come see him. I live in Montrose and I love it here. I would like to raise my family here. However, when I see how these crimes are dealt with by our local Law Enforcement I tend to rethink my decision to stay.

Sorry to be the one to tell you this. But I know first hand of how the Law Enforcement run things around there. The courthouse area should be called "the Injustice Center" rather than what it is! They like to make criminals out of innocent people and slap the real criminals on the hand and then let them go. Fact of the matter is... if you aren't part of their good'ol boy club, they will harass you and if they get the chance or make the chance.. they will do the same to you. Who needs criminals when you got Law Enforcement,(and I use that term very loosely), like that? This isn't slander this is what I've experienced. I am Thankfull every day that I am no longer there. My advice get out of there while you still can! And watch the other hand of the people there. Because the moment you turn around they will stab you in the back!

I agree with Victim of MPD. I have volunteered in the "justice" system and I can tell you this: there is NO justice. There are so many inconsistencies in this state it is unreal. Although I feel for anyone who is abused-especially as a child-not all people who are labeled "sex offenders" are violent, pedofiles-in fact, most are not. CO has a horrible justice system and prison system. I too know for a fact that abuse occurs in the system by the very people who promise to "serve and protect". Besides, the vast majority of abuse occurs inside the home, just like KLN story. What about the families of those in trouble? Why should a child not get to see their parent (unless they choose not to or were abused by them). What about rehabilitation? How can we expect people to become better, think clearly, do the right thing, etc. when we treat them like animals? It is not rocket science but then again-most people working in the system could very well be in the system.
