Really? Not until the 90's? Are you sure??<quoted text>
The laws only banned whites and blacks from getting married..........ROTFLMAO
The first such state law was in 1691..........
You are extra slow today..........Before the assault on the word marriage by gays during the 90s no states had laws against same sex marriage........
Today more than half have passed such laws.........
You are the one losing ground..........LOL
Then why did the Minnesota State Supreme Court rule in 1971 (Baker v Nelson) that MN statute prohibited marriage between persons of the same sex?
Hmmmms, seems like there WERE statutes banning same-sex couples from marrying long before the 1990's.
That would come as news to the couple in Minnesota who sued to be able to marry in 1972 but was told is was against the law.
Some states banned whites only from marrying blacks: Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, etc.
Other states banned whites from marrying blacks or asians: Missouri, Montana, etc.
Other states banned whites from marrying blacks & indians: Maine, North Carolina, etc.
Other states banned whites from marrying ANY non-white: Georgia, Texas, South Carolina, & Virginia.
