Not any more; it now includes a civil union between two people of the same sex.
We ARE going for equal rights, which can only come through marriage.
Btw, marriage was once defined as a civil union between two people of the same race. Things change, get used to it.
Marriage is for the children, you gay people don't need it any more than two single strait people shacking up. You can get all the other stuff you need with legal agreements, wills and such.

No it does not.........A few states have said so but that is it......
If you are going for equal rights you would have looked for the easiest and quickest way to get them......
But instead in the 90s you pushed to pervert the word marriage and we pushed back...and you lost.....
One state was all it took to get things started. Now we're up to 9. By the end of this year it will likely be 15. It's only a matter of time.

We lost a few battles; we're winning the war.

I have clearly said I supported equal rights........The problem is that instead of going for equal rights you attempted to pervert the word marriage and that is what caused the resistance....
Yes now AFTER you tried to pervert the word many groups are going to fight tooth and nail to stop you.....
Gays were not as smart as the black community.......
If the black community in the 50s and 60s were pushing to change the name WHITE the civil rights act would never have passed...
You can claim whatever you want. If you don't support marriage for same-sex couples, then you don't support equal rights.

Your black/white analogy is simply stupid.

Keep fighting this all you want. It just proves how anti-gay you are AND you're losing.

It just makes every victory all that much sweeter knowing how much you fought against this.

Wrong again. We have the hundreds of benefits at the state level as every other marriage.

And after the SCOTUS overturns DOMA in Jun we'll have the 1000+ federal benefits as well.

There is simply nothing you can do to stop it from happening. But we enjoy watching you try.

A majority of same-sex couples are raising kids.

Feel free to have whatever legal agreements, wills, and such you want.

I'll keep my marriage and keep fighting until I have the same rights as every other marriage in America.

The employer wasn't dictating her vote; they told her that a consequense would be that, should the company find itself in a position to have to lay off employees, that those voting for Øbama would be the first to go. As I said before, you pays your dues, you takes your chances and she got what she paid for.
Evidently you're not too bright or you just don't understand the bill of rights. This employer's actions border on treason!

Maybe some of you would like to go back to the days of the robber barons where employers tried to control every aspect of a worker's life. Thanks to those brave enough to form unions the problem was solved. What a bunch of neofascist unamerican morons!

My daughter isn't the least bit confused. She understand there are bigots who attempt to discriminate against others.

Just dont support changing the word man or white to include women and blacks......
Why do you keep proving yourself a fool???
You can't support equal rights without supporting equal marriage rights for same-sex couples.

Sticking with the stupid white/black analogy I see.

Yep, that'll stop us from passing marriage equality in more & more states......

Children need to be raised by a mother and a father, not gay people not Murphy brown at least if you want to do what is best for them.

We are destroying the conventional nuclear family and over time that will destroy our culture and society.

We have gained over half of the states..........ROTFLMAO
You had ALL 50 states before 2004.

Now you're down to 39.

You will lose more states this year, and more next year, and more the year after that.

Polling in Tennessee shows 61% oppose marriage equality. Now remember that figure was 81% when they double-banned gays from marrying in 2006. So even in Tennessee you lost 20% support in just 6 years.

By the end of the decade, you anti-gays won't be able to win a single vote anywhere.

That's why your fellow anti-gays are doing whatever they can to keep this issue off the ballot in Ohio & Oregon.

White is not what we call black people..........White was always use to describe white.
Male is not what we call females........It was always to describe males.
Marriage is for two people of the opposite sex..........Not to describe the abnormals.......
And marriage used to be for two people of the same race.......

You should email the legislators in Illinois and tell them your whole "black/white, male/female" thing. I'm sure that'll stop them from expanding marriage to include same-sex couples!

Really?

So same-sex couples could marry in all 50 states before the Prop 8 vote in 2008?

Gee, I think that will come as a big suprise to everyone.

There was a time when blacks could not marry a white..........But twoo hundred years ago whites were getting married to Mexicans.....
Many states banned whites from marrying anyone but another white person. Some even banned whites from having sex with anyone but another white person.

The last of those laws were overturned in 1967 with the Loving v Virginia case.

Now you're not even making sense. You claim gays weren't banned from marrying before Prop 8 but now claim they weren't recognized?

Newsflash for you moron-

California votes passed an initiative banning same-sex couples from marrying in 2000. Before that they couldn't marry either.

Until the California court overturned that ban in 2008, no same-sex couples could marry.

THEN the voters re-banned same-sex couples from marrying in 2008 by passing Prop 8.

You're in over your head.

I never said it was a USA law; I said it was some state laws which banned whites from marrying anyone but another white person.

You're really not very good at this. That explains why you anti-gays are losing.

Before the word marriage was under assault by the gays there was no law against marring the same sex..........
Really?

Then why couldn't same-sex couples marry if there was no law against it?

What a moron.
