The "gardens" are the only hot spot in this little town. Every week some poor soul is evicted and their belongings out on the street. My suggestion, turn the gardens into a rent controlled environment for seniors! The place is too fluid, too many people in and out

as a fellow Damascus Native, I strongly believe in doing away with the "Gardens" altogether. I believe in diversity and having that low income housing, but dont fill it with trash. That is all who lives there is pure trash, Granted there are a few good people who do need to live there, such as this poor guy who was murdered. Damascus is a small farmers town, not the freaking streets of baltimore. Leave your ghetto attitudes and weapon and drugs in the ghetto, or get the hell out of our town!!! RIP BJR! we are praying for you and your family!

In response to the IGNORANT comment you posted !!!

You are truly IGNORANT and do not know what you are talking about !!! Everyone in "The Gardens" cannot be labeled as "pure trash" only a small minded person like yourself would make a comment of this nature. More then 80% of the residents in Damascus Gardens are law obiding working, respectible citizen's !!! All of the residents do not take part in illegal actions and noone would have dreamed of harming Billy Ray. I have lived in this community for more then 10 years, in fact I live below Billy Ray.

My thoughts and prayer's go out to Billy Ray's family and friends, this indeed was a hideous crime, but do not attempt to do the job for the Montgomery county police by throwing blame and passing judgement on the residents of Damascus Gardens apartments. If you are so concerned why don't you start off by attempting to help the situation not pass judgement on the residents.

You need to mind your business and keep your IGNORANT OPINIONS to your IGNORANT SELF !!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Blessed and highly favored in Damascus MD !!!

What took place up there Is because the lack of poor management. I know of Good people that live there and are comfortable on the inside of there home but can't stand the out side. If management would tighten-up on this property then people could live more safe.
It's not fare to label everyone that lives there as "Bad".
They need to have security. This area is no different from PG or DC, it's just up in the country and when people apply they make it seem likes it a friendly area... and of course during the day it doesn't look that bad ran down but not that bad.
I feel that they should clean it up for the ones that have no other choice right now to live there... Like my girlfriend she has two wonderful kids and works full-time and trying to use her place as a stepping stone to her owning a home so please tighten-up for the ones that are trying

I am going to disagree with you. You mean 80%+ is trash. 80% rely on their low life boyfriends to deal drugs. What dust are you smoking Nicole? Get your facts straight. Everybody is dealing! Punks rolling up in the gardens dealing, man! Give me a break! Everybody smokes weed everyday. Nobody really has a job out there. They are mooching off on the system. Girl, you don't even want to go there! Don't touch that subject with me cuz it won't end! You live below Billy Ray and you didn't hear anything or see anything. Girl, I am wit cha, it's sad he died that way, but this neighborhood is getting worse not better.
Crack is wack and everybody there is "PURE TRASH." CLOSE DOWN THE GHETTO PLACE!

Fluid all the way! People get evicted for the stupid sh*t they do! How stupid is that for people to do drugs where they live. come on now? quit being a fool. Yeah let them take all the loud mouth, ghetto, drugged up people out of here and throw in some quiet people. I am black and we are just like that, loud mouths and ghetto all the way. If they take out the majority of blacks who came from Bmore this place can have somewhat of peace. but ya'll don't wanna cooperate. ya'll want to do what ya'll want to do and the rental manager doesn't want her hands dirty so it continues. we take over and destroy it. Ya'll need to clean this crap up. Some of us are struggling to move and this place could get closed down for ya'll bullsh*t. come on now? So, now we are targets. Ain't that some sh*t?

I do not believe all the people of Damascus Gardens are trash. I think some people are there to provide a home for their children, while others are there for the atmosphere (drug, crime or whatever). Damascus Gardens is a place of what the residents make it. If the majority of people want to live as trash, than that is what this place will become. However, it will take only one person to stand up for change! If the "resident manager" would make this step, I bet a lot of people would follow. There needs to be heavy consequences for being convicted of any crime, and for any friends being convicted on the property! Make the residents understand that if your guest misbehave on the property, you as the renter, will be held responsible!

i agree with Nicole but the residents need to stand up for there community!
I grew up living in the perrywood apartments and my brother and i were well known in the gardens...ten years ago my family moved away from the garden area to a more quite stable neighborhood. As for the comment on all the residents there are trashy the person that stated that probably has never been out of her well maintained lawn white community so before you continue to run that spoon feed [email protected]@cker of yours you need to know that a majority of the ones that live there are very upstanding citizens..But for the few that are not they do make the area undesirable to live in (yeah thats the BMORE [email protected]#@S AND THE DC WH#@ES) They think they can move into a neighborhood and sell there drugs and bully people to look the other way and they think that they can scare you cuz there black and in groups of 3 or more that you have no right to your community....If the residents stand up and the management do there job then the gardens would be just as good as the new condos going up all over the county..Nothing will change til the residents decide they want it too....And come on no one saw a thing or heard a thing in a small apartment complex consisting in no more then 5 buildings..it just scared ass punk [email protected]@#$#@!(not everyone) that think if you remain quite it will go away

I lived there for 2 years while attending school full time and getting my Bachelors Degree. I got my degree, and moved out of there. It IS 80% trash. It is full of people who have absolutely no respect for the community, no respect for others, and clearly no respect for themselves. Its like people there have no common sense. The garbage goes INTO the dumpster, not in the hallways or outside the dumpster. If you want to talk to a friend (or your drug dealer), instead of screaming for them from one end of the 'hood' to the other, why not walk your lazy self to the door and knock? Have people lost all sense? Not everyone wants to hear how much crack you want or who you did last night, or what youve been drinking since 8am. The biggest stress factor there was the fact that it was embarrassing having people over. Guests would see the halls littered with trash (yet a giant dumpster sits empty 10 feet away, go figure), blunt wrappings, beer bottles, constant, and I mean CONSTANT!, screaming of profanity infront of children, damage to cars, people fighting, etc. Who wouldnt want their place of residence to be clean and welcoming? The list goes on. The trash that lives there, the ignorant blacks AND ignorant whites...or white trash, as they portray themselves, makes it hell for the few people who live there to enjoy their surroundings. It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to be comfortable there, and management does NOT care what-so-ever. The cops dont want to deal with the gardens, so they dont come. Its sickening. I kept to myself, kept my child inside, and kept my apartment clean. Yes, there ARE a HANDFUL of good people there. Since the government pays basically for everything there, from rent to foodstamps, these people lack motivation. Hey, why blame them? They are handed money, food, Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts (monetary and food), so why should they change? Blame the government, and sure, the management too, but theres obviously no one who has the guts to change the place around. Put me in charge. I'd love to change that place. It would just be so much better if people respected the property and OTHERS, and cleaned up after themselves. Theres a guy that works there, his full time job is to pick up trash. So...the government pays him to pick up trash after people EVERYDAY? Isnt that a CLEAR sign that somethings wrong? What respectable apartment complex has someone who picks up others trash 8 hours a day? If residents had any respect for their community, their neighbors, and the poor guy who has that shitty job (I bet he doesnt get govt benefits), they wouldnt need a FULL TIME EMPLOYEE to clean up after them. If that guy wasnt there to clean every single day...the place would look 500 times worse than it does.
p.s. To those who have NOT lived there, management has sent out NUMEROUS letters warning people of the loitering, littering, etc. Fact is, no one respects the management's requests, so it goes on, but.... no one does anything to stop it. So, I'm glad to be gone.

If you knew the number of letters from management that have gone out to residents stating things like 'if your guest doesnt follow the rules, you'll get written up', or so on and so on. Do you think that consequences actually follow? Please... no one cares about the letters, just as management is apparently unable to properly manage, thats why these things occur over and over and over and over.....

In all honesty I don't think that ppl 4rm Baltimore or DC should b displayed as TRASH cuz im 4rm B-More and I live like effin' Royaltii and I don't think where u come 4rm should make ur name i think u make that name 4 urself. If the Residents of Damascus Gardens are living like dirt then they gotta change 4 themselves, it doesn't matter what ur place looks like on the outside it matters whats inside and how u keep YOURSELF up, don't pass Judgement on what u don't know cuz u never know what someones circumstances hold whether ur on the system or not!!! Every1 needs help @ some point in their lives it just what u do with that help that matters!!! Appreciate what u got.

The Gardens is the "South Central" of Damascus -- the cops make a regular run through there. The majority of bad checks in Damascus come from that spot. It is filled with imported section 8 trash, drug dealers, and various other low-lifes. I hope they catch the garbage that did this man in -- no doubt that individual is already in the system and has a rap sheet a mile long.

And yes there are a few good people that live there but they are certainly among the minority.

people who are looking to rent a apartment or condo should always inquire about the presence of section 8 housing in the neighborhood. for the most part, you don`t want these parasites around. they do nothing to enhance your living experience. they bring nothing to your neighborhood but crime, drugs, thugs + bugs.

Wow glad to be gone, you say I fit in with the rest however while living in Damascus Gardens I successfully obtained 2 not one but 2 MASTERS degrees from UMBC in addition to securing a very promising career with the Federal Government (can you say the same) so again I say "not all who live there are trash".

under obama, the parasite society is expanding.they won`t work, but they sure can breed. parasites move their filth and waste from location to location.broodmares on the welfare downloading babies they have no way to support or raise. has property values ever increased when section 8 housing is created? we must find a way to keep these moochers from polluting desirable neighborhoods. it`s a fact where ever you have dirty, filty section 8 parasites the hood goes to hell.
