What's even more pathetic is they just released three low life bangers from custody. One was in a car that the driver started shooting at the cop that pulled him over. They didn't get the passenger for knowing his homey was carrying a concealed weapon,or being a low life banger around guns or nothing.Just let him go???? The other two were seen jumping into a car after they killed a guy then led police on a chase, then bailed out and lead them on a foot chase. No charges filed????No wonder the low life's rule the street, what do they have to worry about.Pathetic!

There are no Level 1 trauma centers in either Monterey or Santa Cruz Counties. If stuff really hits the fan, you have to go to San Jose. It is a social conundrum whether low-lives should be afforded the most expensive medical care possible, but that's not something to be decided at the bedside (or curbside).

A few years ago, I took an ambulance from Carmel to CHOMP. While discussing my $1500 ride (not paid by my insurance)with the ambulance company, I was cheerfully told that most of their clients/patients never pay anything. I paid in full, but I felt like a sucker in doing so.

I appreciate the comment by AGAIN

Has anyone seen the figures for 2009 regarding the cost to Monterey County taxpayers, for these flights from Monterey County to out of county trauma centers in the Bay Area? It would seem that with the amount of violence in our county, plus normal trauma cases, that Natividad MAY be a better answer as a local trauma center where both lives and taxpayer money are better saved.

It is too bad the CALGRIPS money was not designated for surveillance cameras in our cities and county...instead of paying more overtime pay for cops.
