Stover residents hold prayer vigil for victims of sex crimes
#1 Oct 7, 2012
I am glad to see that this prayer vigil happened, and that it happened safely. People are scared to talk about this, and its a shame to see that. People are outspoken about verbal abuse and physical abuse, but we still haven't gotten comfortable fighting against sexual abuse. I am telling you, this needs to change!!! We have four completely different girls over a 14 year period making accusations here, that don't know each other! Read the court documents in which gives detailed accounts of both of the current cases. These are available at KMIZ at the bottom of one of their news articles on this current case. Even at that, there are witnesses to both cases. The people at the Stover First Baptist Church are afraid to change their stance now on Travis Smith, because that then makes them accountable for all of his actions since this first happened. I certainly find it funny that Stover First Baptist Church said last night that the Fish Fry last night was not to support Smith... Yes, I understand it was already scheduled, BUT IT WAS THEIR CHURCH MEMBERS WHO WENT ON TV AND SAID THAT IT WOULD BE USED TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR SMITH!!! To the victims who are on here: Know that there are people who are trying to stand up for you and trying to fight for you. Smith was run out of California for the same thing, and with time, hopefully Stover will do the same thing. I hope that you were all able to see the news last night and the people who were not afraid to stand out in the public in support of all of you. Not just the article, but the video coverage of the event. Travis Smith is sly, and he leads everyone of his victims into thinking they are good friends, and he plays a good card. He truly does get into your head. If any you which are victims are on here in which are involved in the current charges against him, fight like hell. We can not help what happens at the end of this, and what the outcome is. All you can do is tell your story and pray that the legal system will do something this time. No matter the outcome, know that people support you and do believe you, and there are people praying for your comfort and peace during this rough time.

So, does anyone know if Travis addressed the SFBC members yesterday? There are church members on these forums who were waiting to hear what Travis had to say about the charges. I guess they were waiting to place judgement on him. I don't know why on earth they needed to wait to hear from him. Enough is enough! Time to wake up and run the child predator out of town! He's a threat to society!!!! And I'm wondering if his dad, Tom, isn't a threat as well. He's a strange character who seems to desperately want to keep Travis out of trouble. Why? Does Travis hold secrets about him as well?????

He has a sister that knows not just of the incidents that he has been charged with legally, but she knows as do others in his family, of many other incidents that happened to other girls that the prosecutor has not been able to get enough information or the girls are scared to come forward. The church should ask her questions, instead of Smith or his wife, who have lied thus far. Why isnít the church or anyone else trying to contact her?
