I guess beating cops with 2x4's is no longer a crime huh. Interesting how the sides are drawn. Maybe people should wait and hear the whole story once an investigation is conducted.

It's quite simple. If you don't want to have trouble with the police (getting shot, roughed up or arrested etc.) DONT do shady sh** in the middle of the night. I can't say what this cop did was the right thing or not seeing as how the investigation isn't done yet.

Quote:"had two sons, both named Barry, maybe the only name he could spell?---- was planing to marry his long time girlfriend?,should have been married before knocking out any kids.---- had a drug problem?,and his family said he was a great guy, good thing he wasn't a murderer, than he would have been the best guy in the world.I'll bet his family will be suing the city in no time, after all it is always someone fault but theirs.

I think that we do have to wait to hear the whole matter. Police can be crazy at times, buttheyalso shoot when there is a need. Why was he running away? Why does the family members look so calm. I know if it were my family member, I still wouldn't be calm yet! I'd be crying, showing anger, upset and could hardly talk! Theywere so calm. it don't match up! They must be callous to this type of stuff, or expected it to happen to him soon. Too many questions. And people do stupid things like argue with cops, and try to run away. Wrong move. Sorry he lost his life, but let's see what the conclusion is.

@ seriously, even if a 2x4 was used I doubt the penalty could be death. the facts are nbpd cops are notoriously vicious and I dont blame the guy for running, and now you expect a fair investigation? you are a fool, the police cannot police themselves. we have seen this time and time again.

Its funny how this world is divide no matter what happen a family have lost a member. I dont care if it 6am or 11pm cops these days are a mess with cut back lack of training over worked and under paid. When you are out coming from where ecer and you see a car ride up and a whole bunch of men jump out guns drawn what are you going to do just stand there and say hi I'm so and so. People kill me with always judging beforethe fact are even stated. Now this man happen to been in a know drug area at the wrong time. Cops do there job but at the same time they dont always go by the book. It has nothing to do with color its about being right and wrong. If you was in that mans shoes you may have done the same thing. These cops have so many non lethal was to stop a person shooting a man in his back and side was not called for. I dont care what was going on if he did not have a gun and pointing it at the cop then they could of use non deadly force that is why we as tax payers pay taxes so the can get non lethal equipment. I have seen someone say something about a 2x4 if that was the case why did they wait till the man was running to shoot. I want you guys to really listen the police have change there story four time before the 2x4 was mention. If the man was wrong then fine but if the cops was wrong then justice should be served.........

i'm a bartender who lives and works in new brunswick and i deal with the scum that our police officers have to deal with. when you run from the cops, you are setting yourself up to be shot. it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. leave the new brunswick cops alone. they are the most brave people i have ever known. maybe they are jaded, but trust me, you would be too if you saw half the criminal scum they do. if you don't want cops to shoot you, don't commit crimes and then run from the cops. new brunswick is becoming a sewer of criminals and gang members. i highly doubt this guy who was shot was any different. he certainly wasn't very bright.

if you people think that the only time for self defense is when someone has a gun pointing at you, you are crazy. "misunderstanding", your inference that the cops should have waited until the man was pointing a gun at them is quite silly. i'm pretty sure that when someone is pointing a gun at you, it's a bit too late to then decide you need self defense. and as far as our taxpayers dollars, i'm not too crazy about MY taxpayer dollars paying for this guy to go to jail over and over, have a lawyer, and have housing paid for (he was from the projects, no?).

First things first, what was the reason for approaching these men in the first place. No probable cause stated by police. Why were their guns out of their holsters before contact made withthese people or justification present. If the suspect was known to them and he ran they could have signed a complaint against him if they had a reason to and arrested him at a later date. And if he was hitting an officer with a weapon why not tackle the suspect or use a similiar weapon of choice. Meet force with equal or greater force. And finally if a weapon was used by the suspect shoudn't it be in evidence someplace to prove the officers version of events. Just saying!

Warning shots are illegal in New Jersey, contrary to what you see on tv.
