He knew it was wrong, and had the decency to retire, this was the reverse of the Worcester County Sheriffs race, the candidate knew it was wrong but did not care, fortunately the voters won out and did not elect him

There is a very good chance that Patrick could appoint Tom Foley to fill that position.

This guy was strong armed by Deval. So what if he was going to be making $200k a year he's the sheriff for creaps sake. He has to do, well I don't know sheriff stuff. Cut him a brake he's almost 60 years old.

Sorry Jim, you're comment is off base. Mr. Foley was doing nothing wrong. Watch the incumbent Worc Count Sheriff's appointments....Wonder where Glodis will end up??....Probably similar to Grossman appointing a defeated state rep to a $ 100K job to keep her gravy train rolling!!!

Tax dollars and corruption hard at work. Love this state. Liberal, conservative, black, white, they all play the same game. Jam it to the tax payer and smile as they do it.

When a Sheriff quits a replacement is appointed by the govenor until the next election, which in this case is 6 years away since the he was the incumbent. If this was a new Sheriff I would think they would hold a special election. When Kennedy died the govenor appointed a replacement until a special election was held. But I think with the Sheriff, I think the replacement stays until the regular election. I believe another Sheriff in MA ( i think Cousins) was appointed by a govenor and then was elected.

The Worcester County race was all about a pension, it had nothing to do with change at the jail. Foley was by far the more qualified and experienced canidate. Even the Nichols had mor qualification than Lew. We will all know in Janurary if Lew is for real.
