Rumor has it that there is more to the story. Rumor has it that a female first responder had injured her arm. She called Randall, her friend to come and check on her. Randall and his wife came to see the injured female first responder. Randall's wife gave the injured female first responder a couple of pain pills. Randall then took the injured female to West Georgia Medical Center in Lagrage where she was evaluated, given more pain medication and released. The injured female first responder was very sleepy as a result of being under the influence of narcotic pain medication. During this time she alleges that Randall Wright raped her. Allegedly Randall Wright sent a test message to the injured female first responder apologizing for his behavior. The following day, the first responder came up to the EMS station in Meriwether country and punched Randall in his face. 2 days later, Randall was arrested without bail being set. Rumor has it that Randall has always been a 'touch/feely' kind of guy when it comes to women, but never anything as blatant as overt as rape.

If anyone knows the two of them the accused and the accuser then you know they are both feely touchy people. One who is not getting any at home and one whos husband was just so happenly getting deployed. If people who are married would follow the old ways and stay faithfull to the one they married this crap would not happen. Was it rape I doubt it was it two unfaithfull individuals both are guilty. Their spouses should divorce both of them and take them to the cleaners.

From a reliable source: Randal has been accused of sexual misconduct (sliding a mirror under a bathroom door, inappropriate touching, running around the station in his "tighty whiteys") by female subordinates and ER nurses in the past. However, Chief Chapman and Deputy Chief Jones did NOTHING about this, not even documentation in his personnel file. They have, however, laughed and joked about his perverted behavior for the past several years. Maybe the citizens of Meriwether county should evaluate the administration of the EMS system and demand a change in the corruption!!!

Even swingers deserve the right to consent to sex. Even prostitutes and strippers get raped, that doesn't mean it's ok.

This man has been in my home several times as a friend with others while my husband was there. There was nothing to this other than me preparing dinner for them I can see that there is a possiblilty of the accused rape since he was always extrememly touchy feely and VERY affectionate towards me. Randall has always been a touchy feely person and has always made me feel uncomfortable. I think that he is capable of this behavior. I mean one who doesn't get it at at home and cannot get it elsewhere will take it. The whole thing gives me chills as I has know him and been around him more times than I can count and even had my children round him...

I have known Randall for over 17 years. I know that Randall in the past has pushed a few shoulder rubs too far, but stopped when told to do so. I would not be afraid to leave him alone with my wife or any one of my family. He has always been a good friend and kindhearted person. I'm not saying he is not capable of rape, maybe he did have sex with the woman, but I cannot see him forcing himself on someone. Maybe they had sex, and to cover herself all it takes these days is for her to say rape. I was not there, but to me, I don't see it.

In 2002, a paramedic with Meriwether County EMS and her EMT partner played a huge role in saving my life. I will forever be indebted to them. In spite of what happened then and how grateful I am for their actions and expertise, because of knowledge gained concerning the inner workings of EMS in this county, I have recently told my family that I would rather die than have anyone with Meriwether County EMS respond to my home unless it is my son. My son, a paramedic with the county, is distraught that I feel this way. He assures me there are good, moral and very knowledgable professionals on staff with MC EMS. If that is true, where are they? Why are they not speaking up and cleaning up? We wonder why EMS professionals are not paid what they deserve to be paid? Is it because the good ones do not have the courage to get rid of the bad ones, clean up the service from the inside out, and demand the respect and pay they are due?

As an award-winning newspaper columnist for 22 years I proudly wrote a number of columns in support of public service workers, especially police, fire and EMS. A few years back, I gave up watching and supporting professional sports because I am downright indignant over what public safety workers and educators are paid in comparison!
That said... the truth is we all get the respect we earn! When public safety workers prove worthy of respect and demand that respect, things change. There are numerous counties and municipalities around our country that demonstrate that fact. As a tax paying citizen of Meriwether County I EXPECT things to soon change from the inside out or from the outside in - doesn't matter to me which way it happens - just so it happens SOON. Ideally, it should be addressed from both the lowest and highest levels possible. People are waking up across America. People are waking up in Meriwether County. All across our great land WE THE PEOPLE are starting to chant: Enough is enough. Prayerfully, at this point, I am considering what else I can do besides shout: ENOUGH.

How dare you post the victims name. People of all different lifestyles are raped. You are obviously a man. Why can't people realize? When a doctor or lawyer says no it means no. When a worker at McDonalds says no it means no. When ANY woman says no it means no!

Just in case there is anybody who feels that I do not have the right to make the demands I made above and will continue to make in other county venues check out:
http://www.naco.org/Content/NavigationMenu/Ab...

Meriwether County is a member of the National Association of Counties and at the above link you will read the organization's code of ethics.
This note is posted at the bottom of that page (linked herein):
"The Code of Ethics found on this NACo web page is intended for information and reference purposes only. It is not the Code of Ethics or ordinance of any particular county. Contact your local county to find out if it has a Code of Ethics, and if so, to obtain a copy of it or to find out how it is enforced."
Tomorrow, I will ask for a copy of Meriwether County's Code of Ethics.

How dare you make such a blanket statement about all EMS workers at Meriwether. I know who your son is and you should not be throwing stones when he lives in a glass house. It could be messy!! By the way, I would be proud to have Meriwether EMS respond if needed and that does include my husband!!

This is a powerful statement and accusation you wrote!!!! Questions! Do YOU HAVE DOCUMENTATIONS? Can you prove these events took place? How are you able to see Randall's personnel file? It's that illegal? Sounds like you are the one corrupted!!

It has always amazed me how fast the cockroaches will come out of the woodwork when bad things happen. In this instance , it appears several cockroaches have appeared to forward their own agendas.
As an employee of Meriwether County EMS , I proudly put on my uniform to come to work everyday. There is alot of barking about respect by people who sound like wounded dogs.
Last time I checked, this is still America and a man is presumed innocent until found guilty. There is always two sides to any story , and quite frankly it is time to let the courts decide what did or didn't happen.
Denigrating our chief or deputy chief from within is the act of a coward. A low down dirty rotten coward who uses any opportunity he can to push forth his own twisted schemes. Thomas and Brin have done a fantastic job with the service , and I will support their efforts to anyone, and I WILL PUT MY NAME FOR ALL TO SEE !

Evidently you are unaware that any county employee's personnel file is open record and can be requested by anyone at any time according to the open records act. I personally have not seen Randal's personnel. Anyway, I'm not blogging about what IS in Randal's file, but what is NOT in Randal's file.

Hey citizens of Meriwether, Mr. Loney is on shift today and using your tax money to post blogs on company time.

Sherry,
Please note that I never made any blanket statement about all EMS workers in MC.
In spite of my son constantly reassuring me that many quality professionals work for this county, my own confidence has been so shaken that I presently do not want to call on MC EMS for assistance.
I want that confidence restored.
If that means a personnel management change, so be it. It may be in the best interest of the county, however, if management styles can just change.
The two men presently in charge at MC EMS know this county well and both are very experienced professionals; it has been my observation that they seem to enjoy serving the county.
I am appalled that the several comments made at this site re. Randall Wright seem to come from people who appear to have worked with him and appear to know him well. I have no idea whether or not he is guilty of rape. However, IF his behavior while on duty is anything like what is outlined in the above remarks then I hold management accountable for him being on the county payroll.- continued below

Sherry,
I think I am within my rights as a citizen, and that I am being reasonable to expect a change in management or a change in the management styles of those in charge.
I do not want to see anybody unnecessarily harmed, including Randall Wright and it saddens me to think that he and his family may read some of these posts. Certainly, as Mr. Loney so accurately and appropriately points out, Wright deserves his day in court!
As a tax paying citizen I cannot require that every public servant be good, moral, compassionate individuals at heart. I do think, however, that I am within my rights to expect good, moral and compassionate behavior and performance as much as is humanly possible of those in the public service sector esp. while on the job.
Only God can change hearts; but good management can require appropriate moral behavior.
Truly, I mean NO ill will toward anybody in MC. In fact, I would welcome an opportunity to meet with anyone who would like to join me in prayer for this county and its leaders.
