I wish that 1 Million dollars could go to the local schools to help educate our children. That money should not be used to help with the water pipeline for the plant to help Osage Bio Energy, LLC's profit margin. Why don't they pay for it all?

Concerned Parent- You do realize that the internet trace lists your post being added from Raleigh, NC?

Last I read in the newspaper, those folks from Osage have not mentioned a project in Mecklenburg County, NC (the Charlotte area). If you as a Raleigh, NC parent are sending your children to public schools in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, it is appropriate that the tax authorities be notified to make sure you are paying your fair share as well.

With the way your grammar is, I can see why you would want to rely on the Virginia public school systems. "You're" is how one conjoins "You are", not "your." So, now that another Virginian educated you, you should pay even more money to the Commonwealth!

To be real here for a moment, the addresses listed below our names is just an IP address. I am actually from Chase City but the IP (Internet Service Provider) can be from anywhere. It could possibly even show you from outside the US depending on the routing systems and other factors such as time of day. I beleive most of us are actually from the local area. That being said...SUPPORT OSAGE!

I live in Clarksville VA but I have parents in Chase City. Have the people been properly informed of all the pros and cons of this plant? I have family that are for the project and some are against it. Some are worried about the smell. What about the smell of chicken shit that lingers over Chase City? Everytime I come to Chase City, that sour shitty smell makes me want to vomit. Maybe the smell from Osage will help cover it up!!!

LOL. I love your analogy on this. Finlly a person with the same sense of humor as myself. I really dont think that this will be the issue as far as smell is concerned. Also i know for a fact that alot of the oppositions "facts" are mear opinion and scare tacticts. For most of the things that have been presented to amke this plant so bad i cn provide a fact of some kind to counter it. Agian i have been researching ethanol since about 2001. I assure you that it is no more dangerous then the current fuel that we use now. Maybe i should file for a everclear or vodka plant to go there with the ATF. i wonder if i would get the same opposition on that. After all they are just about the same process just one is aged and one isnt. I am planing a trip up to a plant here soon hopefully along with some of the others from the CCP. I am also looking for 1 or two people that are in the opposition maybe with the APM to join us on the trip. This way we can have both side going at the same time and we can hash the fact as far as smell and other things pertnent to the plant. HOWEVER i am looking for some one that can have thier opinion but open minded enogh to listen to the facts before them. My goal is not to change thier minds. It is mearly to have the otherside's voice with us when we go. If you can be that type then please contact me or the CCP. Then when we come to public meeting about it and we can say that we have both side and this is our views on what we saw. Thus this should be of benifit to all sides. Then the public can make a more decisive decisoin on what we found. Maybe ending the im on one side and you are on the other thing. I really wish that everyone would work together on this better then they have. This area is to precious to let something like this tear it apart!

Check this out. Why don't we take some barley, wheat, hops and brewers yeast then add some water and ferment it? We can call this BEER.(which by the way is ethanol) Then we can add 2 or 3 roller coasters, a plume ride, a tram to the brewery for afree dink of "BEER" We'll call this Busch Gardens and we can all take our kids there! Oh, wait..hmmmm, I was talking about the ethanol plant. What the heck, same thing minus the rides!

Information based on facts and not scare tactics based on outdated thinking and old wives tales are the key. A lot of people are on the fence about this project and they need to know how safe this plant would be. And odor? How would people work at the plant if the odor was horendous from two miles away? A little common sense needs to come into play somewhere!

Traffic is also a reason used to oppose the plant. With the closing of Huss Trucking the town lost the traffic from their trucks coming in at the end of the week and going out on Sundays and Mondays, not to mention the ongoing traffic from the trucks coming into the terminal all week long. And then there was the traffic we used to have from JonBil,Hampco, the shoe factory and the Estes truck terminal. Did local residents oppose these because they brought traffic into town? No,because the working people knew it was all a part of growth and progress and they welcomed it.

Now the lake is being brought into the arguement? Perhaps they should look into how the two rivers that feed the lake are used before the water ever reaches Clarksville. And the chemicals used are going to ultimately ruin the lake? Again the EPA would not allow it if that were the case. Farmers have used chemicals on their crops for years and years and if there are adverse effects on the lake why is no one up in arms about it?

These scare tactics have less basis than a motorist hitting the gas pumps at one of our local convenience stores and blowing up half the town. Should we also pass a resolution to not have places that sell gas because it might explode, gas has a very bad odor and people create traffic by going to the store to fill up their car or get gas to mow the lawn?

Amen brother New Gen! It really amazes me how some of the APM people can actually spew the obvious misinformation and still sleep at night. I've known most of the lifelong chase city members most of my life and I'm suprised at them. It's really quite sad.

You're very welcome, Stephen. Scare tactics like the ones used by those opposed to the ethanol plant can be applied to literally anything in our town. Propane tanks, natural gas lines, fertilizer, gas pumps and aerosol cans just a few things that come immediately to mind.

It's time for the working people of our town to be heard. I, for one, have no plans of acquiring a job at the plant. I do, however, want to see the opportunity available to others and for our local businesses to benefit from the additional trade and for the town to gain from the additional tax base.

This is indeed true. I see numb skull smoking at gas pumps. Danger? You bet, however, consider this:

SouthLand Products, who processed saw mill waste into "soil conditioner" has fires that naturally occur spontaneously in their mulch pile, about 1-4 times a year. Chase City fire won't have to worry about putting out those fires, since SouthLand is closing the Skipwith plant.

Scare tactics don't employ anyone, industry does. Subdivided tobacco farms & clearcut land doesn't employ anyone, industry does.

After watching the WRAL video of an aristocrat say "If you don't have one, you don't want one", I have to wonder if he ever had a clue what he was talking about?

broadband4all, I wondered the same thing about the line "if you don't have one, you don't want one". I guess it means if you do have one you love it? Or just more of their tag lines that they don't have to back up with facts?

I also love how one of the local money men preaches about how bad and dangerous ethanol plants are and then finishes by saying it's fine if they put it somewhere else. Like it's only dangerous if it's in that one location? Makes no sense. None of their doom and danger retoric makes sense and that's all because they're nothing but smoke screens they use to scare people into supporting them.

Now we have a lady in Skipwith talking about living in NJ, which she called the "armpit of the north east", and in Philidelphia, which she called "filtydelphia". She goes on to say we need to love the lake and only use it for recreation, and how Osage would destroy it. Now that just shows how ignorant to reality these people are. The lake was built to generate power and to control flooding. Recreation is nothing more than a side affect of the gov. confiscating private land. I know in the long run it was for the good of all people but still it was a gov. program. To hear people who know absolutely nothing about the area they live in telling me what's good for me just p____es me off! Skipwith must be her bathroom of the mid atlantic because she sure is full of S__t! poo :-)

Well you know technically the only reason they "settled" for this lake anyway way is because they were to big for there pants and could not afford a real place on Lake Gaston. Then they want this lake to be the same in value and keep the same level like Gaston. They are wannabes if you will. Now they want to be wannabes in trying to convince us that they actually know what they are talking about. You know i talked to a guy that came from up there last night complaining about these people that do this stuff. And he said, and bear in mind he is from "filthy" to, that they love to see these that complain like this to come down here becuase they dont want them up there either. What seems more dangerous to me is to have them down here as they have always tried to change the laws down here and change our way of life more so then this plant. Maybe we should get the board to "Passs a resoulution" and use all of us as a referendum that would prevent these "dangers to our way of life" from coming into our beloved community.

As I mentioned before, the APM seems to be loosing steam as time goes on.They may or may not realize that every artical and every meeting they attend is just crushing their plan. It's a good thing that the south tends to have a more common sense type population.I would like to mention that I know a lot of people that have moved here from northern states and have good common sense. One of the major reasons they moved here was to get away from the dumb asses up north, and this is exactly the way they will say it! Most of the ones I know are working people and have no problem with the ethanol plant.Every time the APM speaks its hurting them. I really beleive that vast majority of the county feels this way. The # of their signs you see, at best is their only supporters which seems to be deminishing. Now to finish up, a lot of these imports aswell as some of their local supporters would like for you to think they are millionares but in reality its more probable they are living off of a pretty good pension plans and social sercurity. "THEY DON'T IMPRESS ME MUCH."

Yes, this is mostly true but many also try to bring business here & find the door is slammed in their face for being from "Up North" or they are called "Damn Yankees". This is not constructive to the cohesive needs of the area. Besides, there are dumbasses everywhere! How did everyone else get here? I say bring the plant here & tell the idiots that don't like it to "move to some place that you will be from, from now on..."
