Welch interchange - Funding loss a blow to McDowell
The loss of $900,000 in federal funds earmarked in a House bill for the long-planned interchange of the King Coal Highway and the Coalfields Expressway at the Indian Ridge Industrial Park in Welch is an unfortunate development for McDowell County.

I believe that was probably the plan all along. I'm not talking conspiracy but, We have always got the shaft. There's been a steady decline in population in McDowell County for a long time so they probably figure, why bother. I love McDowell County and am proud to be from Welch.
