Actually they did go in and get her out. They revived her on the scene, took her to the hospital and she was later flown to uk. She died there.
I hope you never need Ems or Fire to take care of you but they will and will do a good job of it if the need arises, in spite of your idiot comments. I live in somerset and you guys have one of the finest fire departments I have ever seen and since it is all volunteer it is even more impressive. I have lived in california, ohio, colorado, nevada, and kentucky and whitley city has one of the finest bar none! You should be proud and supportive, I know you're lucky to have them. I would probably also thank them everytime you pay home owners insurance. Your rates are a lot lower due to having such a fine department. We arent all that lucky!

You know, it seriously upsets me when people get on here and put down the people that are willing to volunteer their time to help others. I want to thank you for showing your support of the firefighters that were involved on that tragic night. Again, thank you for being straight about this. Wish I knew who you were, and I would thank you in person.

Your ignorance truly amazes me. Do you have any clue what the people that were on scene actually went through that night? Do you know how agonizing it is to know that you are unable to help someone that needs help? Do you have a clue? Have you ever felt so helpless knowing that there may be a chance that you can't get to that person? I would dare say no. People like you are cowards. You can get on topix and talk trash about those that volunteer their time to help the county. There was no delay in the response time that night. The fire department was en route within seconds, as they always are. EMS was en route within seconds. I hope and pray that if something like this ever befalls you or anyone in your family, you will take a step back and realize that these people put their lives in danger daily to try to save others. You are truly a disturbed individual.

I support the FD 1005 HOWEVER, i THINK OUR EMS IS AN ABSLOUTE JOKE. WE PAY THEM AND YET WEDNESDAY AFTER THEIR RUN TO SOMERSET THEY WHERE SEEN AT WALMART PARKED IN THE FIRE LANE AND OUT OF CURIOUSITY I WATCHED AND CAN YOPU BELIEVE THEY WERESHOPPING. I JUST PAYED THE AMBULANCE 100.00 I GUESS THEY NEED TO SAVE THEIR PERSONAL GAS MONEY AND TIME. ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASSIONS THEY WERE CALLED TO THE WOLF RIDGE AREA SAME ROAD NOT HARD TO FIND AND BOTH TIME IT TOOK THEM OVER AN HOUR TO FIND TH PLACE INSTEAD OF SHOPPING AT WALMART AND EATTING OUT EVERYWHERE OR WASHING THE OWN VEHICLES OUTSIDE THE 911 THEY NEED TO BE STUDYING MAPS. I CANNOT SAY THEY KILLED THE PEOPLE ON THEM CALLS BUT I WILL SAY THAT TIME IS IMPORTANT WHEN IT IS HEART RELATED AND IT IS SAD THAT WE WILL NOT KNOW IF TIME WOULD HAVE MADE A FACTOR IN IT. HOWEVER I KNOW FROM FIRST AID CPR THAT EARLY TREATMENT IS THE KEY TO HAVING MORE SUCCESS WHEN IT COME TO HEART ATTACKS

i dont understand why people get on here and trash talk the people that put their life on the line to save people every day. the night of the fire was a tragic night. you dont know how the people that was there or had any part in it feels. everyone that was involved done a great job, they done everything thy could to try to save her. i think if you are such and piece of crap that you sit and trash this brave people, then why dont you try to think how you would feel if you was them. i know we have one of the best fire departments around, i would trust everyone of them to help me if i needed it cause they will do everything they can to help. that goes for the ems to, i would trust anyone of them to help me. we do have alot of great emts and paramedics. its hard when you have to find some roads because the stuips ass people that go and tear down road signs. why dont you try blaming them for people having trouble finding roads. well id just about say that the people that tear down the road signs are more than likely the ones that sit on here and trash people.
i just want to say to all the fire fighters, emt's, paramedic's, and dispatchers, you do a great job and i want to thank you for the things that you do have to put up with. no matter how hard things are you are always there when the community needs you, so thank you

Unless you have been in their shoes, I highly suggest you keep your ignorance to yourself. EMS in McCreary is not a joke. People with your IQ want to talk about the bad. Don't care about the good. In my opinion, your type are a waste of oxygen. Hopefully when you need EMS, you will reconsider your view. For the life of me, I cannot understand why ignorant people, like yourself, want to put down EMS, the fire departments and the police officers. All of which do their best to help the community. These people actually put their lives on the line to help others. What do you do? Sit behind a computer screen and try to cause problems. Get a life. You have no clue what you are talking about. Again, until you walk one day in their shoes, keep it to yourself.

Thank you so much for pointing out the good. I don't get why people want to just talk about the bad. When it is someone's time to go, there really isn't anything we are able to do for them. We do our best. When I say our best, I do mean that. Noone knows the hell that we go through with this type of work. I love my job. There are ups and downs to it, just like any other job. But knowing that I make a difference in someones life is why I continue to work with EMS. I can assure you that we aren't in it for the pay. That in itself should speak volumes. There have been many days, or nights, that I have gone home to my family and thanked God that he has given me another chance to see them. I have cried myself to sleep at night because of calls that went bad. Not because we didn't do our jobs, but because it wasn't meant to be. There are many times that we are out on a bull crap call and another one comes in. One that is serious, but we can't abandon the patient that we are with to go to the other. This happens quite often. That isn't our fault. We run 3 crews during the day. At night we have 2 emergency crews. EMERGENCY, I stumped my toe IS NOT an emergency. A heart attack is. So for those of you that want to try to lay blame on EMS, try again. I for one will not stand for it. It sort of makes me wonder if the people that continue to criticize EMS aren't the ones that are the bull crap calls.

emt, i know what you are meaning ive been there too. i dont work for ems, but i do know everything that you go through. im in other parts of the emergency services. it is hard. i know im not in it for the pay. if i was i wouldnt be around here in this county. the only reason i am in it is to help the community. i know most of the emts and paramedics that work county is in it for the same reasons, we like to help people. some of the people that write on here wont ever understand things untill they walk in someone elses shoes.

It just infuriates me to know that some people have nothing better to do than bash the ones of us that do care enough to stay in the county and try to make a difference. We could so easily go elsewhere and get jobs that pay much better, yet we choose to stay here, where our families are, because we do care.

You know that the truth hurts you can not tell me that you have not driven through Whitley and seen them out washing their personal vehicles. I think that some EMS are good however, I also feel that they waste alot of time. The two calls in which people died they were given directions and they took over an hour to get there. The dispacter was on the phone the whole time the EMS kept getting lost and you only have to make one turn off 92 and you are at both houses. I am not speaking bull crap I am speaking the truth. If this botheres you then maybe you need to get off your high horse and not be oblivious to the things that are wrong. I am very educated and opinionated and I am not sorry that my view is the same as yours. This is a public opinion forum and I have the same right to say how I feel. Maybe if you would get out from behind the computer screen you could see the things that are wrong with the world.

I was listening to the scanner that night. The fire dept got there in record time. All the EMS crews were out on other runs and they had to call in a crew and they still got there within mins. I heard she was alive when they got her to the hospital. I think everyone did a wonderful job and I thank you.
I was working that night, however, I was not on that run. I was at the hospital when they brought the lady in. Just being with her the few minutes that I was with her affected me more than anything else has in along time. I can't imagine what it is doing to the ones that worked the whole run.

I listened to the scanner that night as well. I know that one of the firefighters that went on that run is also and emt. He called for them to get EMS in route before he even got there. Ems was right behind them. The women was alive when they got her out. Everyone here on earth is going to die sooner or later. No one knows that time or day, or even what they are going to die from. Only God knows. I thank god everyday that we have the firefighters and the EMS people that are willing to do these kinds of jobs. I never understood why people like to put these people down. They all do the best that they can.

I want to take this time to thank all of the fire deptmartment and the emts that were on the seen that night they done a very good job. I know most of the emts and the fire dept and u coukd not ask fot them to have done a better job. Tony and Lonnie and firefighther Johnny Barnett went beyond duty that night they are very spedial people and we need more people like that helping in McCreary County. Don't bad mouth these guys unless u have been in their jobs and put in the situations they have. U might need help someday and it will all come back to u the way u put them down U BETTER THINK TWICE!!!! I was there that night and no I am not a firefighter or EMT I am a family member so get over putting them down they were on the scene in minutes but they had to bust the door down with an axe before they could get to her she had all the locks on storm door and wood door locked. They done everything possible to save her that night. Thank you guys for all your efforts and desperation of that night. WE APPRECIATE U GUYS VERY MUCH people need to keep their mouths shut unless they know what they are talking about. REMEMBER THE OLD SAYING BETTER TO BE SEEN THAN HEARD THAT IS U GUYS PUTTING DOWN EMTS AND THE FIREFIGHTERS. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS!!!!!!!
