Yes EASYMONEY I was. And I can go on for hours.
Did you know that they just hired back a Paramedic that they fired years ago for poor patient care and clinical skill? Im sure you do becuase you sound like someone who has recently worked there just like me.
Just take a look at the new supervisor lineup. ISNT THAT IMPRESSIVE? It's like the blind leading the blind.
Did you know that it is illegal to push religion on your employees at work?
Did you know that it is neputism (or however you spell it) to hire your whole family and have them work under you?
Did you know that it is illegal to favor males over females at the place of work?
Did you know that sexual harrassment is illegal?
Did you know that Langley is the second highest tax-contributing town in Mayes County (next to Pryor) and they are the least serviced by MESTA?
Did you know that REMO EMS has been running calls in Mayes County on a daily basis due to the cutback in MESTA ambulances in recent years?(MESTA is the sole-provider for Mayes County)
Did you know that currently MESTA medics work 3 and 4 days straight without a break?(72-96 hours)
Would you want someone that sleep deprived saving your family members life?
These are just a few of many questions that I have concerning the safety of the people of Mayes County

ok i know who it is that is pushing religion on people in the work place which is very very WRONG in any place of employment, but especially in a public paid employer, but the sexual harassment.... i believe i know exactly who you are talking about , must be the one who is no longer employed there? yeah he tried some sick stuff on me and i'm a straight guy

Lets include the citzens in this: Everyone needs to understand that it is a state law to send the closest ambulance. Rather it is Cherokee county, Remo "which no longer operates" Delaware county, Pafford and etc. If there is a closer unit to the seen it is asked to also go enroute, with a Mayes county unit. This is the whole idea of sending or asking for mutual aid, to get there quickly, and provide the most adequate care available. So if you want to complain about what unit is sent to your residence, get with your state legislators and tell them your issues. Trying to get the best and fastest care to the citzens is the goal. Reguardless what county you are in.
first of all it is not state law that the closest ambulance has to be sent, that is a state health department regs, big difference. Secondly MESTA is the worlds worst about not sending the cloestest unit to a call, unless it means they can skip out on a call. Look at the new Adair station, they are sending the Adair truck on everything north of hwy 20. Are you going to try and tell that it is closer to the Mayes county courthouse from Adair rather than station one, I dont think so. You must be one of the people that think MESTA is moving forward. Mutual aid is for when you have a incident bigger that your service can handle and you call for help. It is not mutual aid when you are the sole provider for the county and you refuse to cover the northeast corner of the county and you depend on other services to respond. Thats called being to cheap to cover your area so you can show a huge profit margin. It would be a different story if the primary unit for that area was already on a call and you needed help, but when you abandon that area and just expect a another service to pick it up or expect the people to wait 30 minutes for an ambulance, thats not even close to being mutual aid. Rick does want an ambulance in Langley, But he sure doesnt mind cashing the tax check each month. I might add that it was in this weeks "THE PAPER" that Langley was the third biggest tax base in the county for january and fourth for febuary. As far as people complaining about which ambulance arrives at your residence, I think people have the right to complain when they are paying a tax for a service and they dont get the service that is owned to them.

My prayers are with the citizens in Mayes County in need. I pray that they may survive despite MESTA's new management, hiring practices, and logistic/clinical deficiencies.

You have made reference to the "dangerous medics" in several of your comments, would you like to elaborate on just what you consider "dangerous medics" are. Several of the medics there work for EMSA also and a couple of them work for Integris Grove EMS, the other had to go thru the same training as you have had to do. So I am uncertain as to what you are calling "dangerous medics" Please enlighten me if you would.

MESTA not only needs help, it needs immediate intervention at all levels. From the board, to the director, to the dangerous medics, to the untrained dispatchers. It's not about those of us to who have left, it's about the one's who are still there. Get offended if what, but you are untrained and dangerous. A fact is a fact. Had you all spent half the time reading your protocol book as you have on this web site you would probably be better medics by now. Trash talk is only trash when it is untrue, nothing I have written has been untrue or exagerated. Get a giant axe, start at the top, and start working your way down if you want to improve the service. I hope the medical director recognizes these issues, becomes angry, and starts chopping and de-weeding the service of dangerous EMTs and Paramedics. He holds the power and I pray he uses it. In the meantime, good luck to you all, I will be praying for you and your patients. Please drop this issue and go study.......for all our sakes.

LISTEN, JUST BECAUSE ONE OF MESTAS EMPLOYEES WORKS IN MATERIALS AT EMSA DOESNT MAKE HIM AN EMSA MEDIC.

AS FOR GOING THROUGH THE SAME TRAINING, JUST BECAUSE YOU PASS A TEST, THAT DOESNT MAKE YOU A MEDIC. BEING ABLE TO GO OUT ON THE STREETS AND ACTUALLY APPLY WHAT YOUVE LEARNED, AS WELL AS DO IT CORRECTLY IT WHAT MAKES YOU A MEDIC. I TOOK CHEMISTRY IN COLLEGE, HOWEVER, IM NOT A CHEMIST. SO JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE PATCHES, DOESNT MEAN THERE MEDICS.

AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE ELABORATION ON "DANGEROUS MEDICS" HOW ABOUT THOSE WHO FREEZE UP, PANIC, GET SCARED, AND DO NOT DO THERE JOB CORRECTLY. THERE IS NO LEADERSHIP AMONGST THEM. EVERYONE THERE FEELS THEY CAN DO IT BETTER THAN THE REST OF THE COLLECTIVE. MAJOR OF THE CURRENTLY EMPLOYEES HAVE BEEN TERMINATED FROM SEVERAL OF THE LARGER SERVICES AS WELL AS MESTA, FOR THEIR CLINICAL SKILLS.

SO IF YOU ARE A MAYES COUNTY RESIDENT I ASK YOU...

HOW DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING THAT IF YOU NEED AN AMBULANCE, NOT ONLY ARE YOU GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT A HORRID AMOUNT OF TIME BUT, THE PEOPLE WHO SHOW UP HAVE BEEN FIRED FROM MESTA AND OTHER SERVICES IN THE PAST BECAUSE THEY WERE "DANGEROUS MEDICS". THEY WERE ONLY REHIRED DUE TO A DESPERATE NEED FOR EMPLOYEES. CAN YOU HONESTLY TELL ME YOU FEEL 100% CERTIAN THEY'LL SAVE YOUR LIFE OR A MEMBER OF YOUR FAMILY?

Sad Citizen? I would be too.
Embarrassed? Only when I look at MESTA currently.
You should probably concern yourself with the issue at hand rather that my spelling. Maybe you can consult the dictionary when you have an emergency because I quite certain that most who knew what to do have departed for obvious reasons. Now it is only fair to say that I wish nothing but good for you and those affected by this sad course of events. I never made negative comments about religion, quite the contrary. I just hope the citizens recognize there is a problem and respond accordingly.

Who ever wrote this is wrong in every way. It took them 32 minutes to get on scene, not 45 minutes. I understand that might be a little more than what it should, but you can't please everybody. This crap has gone from talking about a tazed prisoner that died in jail to bashing EMS services. WE can all bash each other but the people that bash each other are not meant to be employed here anyway. Thank goodness we got rid of these people. By the way, we would not want you back if you are going to talk TRASH! So, get a life and stop the CRAP!!!!!
So Mr. Current Mesta Medic, just exactly what are you going to do if we dont stop? Most of you don't have a backbone there anyway. All we are trying to do is warn the citizens of Mayes County what is really going on at Mesta. It is not fair to the citizens of this county what that poor excuse of a director is doing to them. And TRUST ME, this isnt over by a long shot. I will personally make sure that even more people know what goes on there. After I left, I make it my mission in life to do so from this point on

I knew that all the nasty stuff would start once the PROBLEM CHILDREN of MESTA were gone. It wasn't any employees at MESTA that made you go. You chose to leave on your own because you knew that your days were numbered. The 5 that left (MEDIC 41, 42, 37, 144, and 157) were good medics. They are very knowledgeable in all there skills. What is funny is that you guys talked the MOST rumors at MESTA. It is great now that you are gone. We have actually grown as a family since. I do understand that there are a lot of problems here but we are slowly but surely working on them. What was funny was that you guys held up this process why you were here. I understand that Langley does not have an ambulance, that we have hired back medics that we have fired in the past, and that our pay is not the best. The truth is, we have hired back medics that have caused a lot of problems while you guys were here to. Nothing is new. EVEN EMSA does the same thing. All EMS services do this. Let us stop all the bad talking and go back to the roots of what our job is. This is to serve the communities that we both work for and do our job good. How would you feel if a citizen of either EMS service's area reads this and sees what is going on. It would be bad PR for both. Can't we all get along?
As long as Mr. L is the director at MESTA, and I have family that live in this county, I will not stop. I will personally make sure that I inform the people of this county of the truth about MESTA. You know, the stuff that the director and the board try to cover up so that the citizens wont find out? I assure you that my family wont suffer just because they live here

Well maybe if MESTA had more than 3 ambulances, their response time would be shorter. Let me ask you a question. If that were your family member, would you want an ambulance to take more than 30 minutes to get to them if they had a life threatning condition?

Also just so eveyone knows, MESTA had 5 ambulances on during the day and 4 on at night just a couple of years ago. This was until the current director cut this total down to 3 day and night. GEE LET ME THINK, THE CALL VOLUME HAS INCREASED AND HE CUTS AMBULANCES AND MAKES MORE OF A WORK LOAD ON HIS MEDICS. THIS IS A SMART MOVE. I WISH I COULD BE LIKE MR. L

What I find quite interesting about these 7 pages of comments is that NO ONE has defended Rick. I would love the newspaper to get ahold of all this, if none of his--current or past employees--are willing to stand up for him maybe the community would be enlighted soley by that. This truly is not EMSA v/s MESTA. This is about employing quailified medics to care for others..........whether it's in Oklahoma or California or anywhere else. I can only speak for myself and will say I worked for MESTA for nearly 8 years. I truly cared about that service and my co-workers. I made some life long friends was priveldged enough to get to save numerous lives. I have spent 11 years in EMS building my name and chose not to have it ruined by or tarnished by the current director and board. I feel they are all making awful decisions and the sufferers are the current employees and the citizens. There are still good medics at MESTA and bad ones. There are good medics at EMSA and bad ones. It goes with the territory. All EMT's and Paramedic's are in this together nation wide. Let us all bury the hatchet, without leaving the handle sticking out, and go on as a nation wide united team, even if our only common ground is the fact that we are all trying to help others.
