Yes, get rid of plastic bags! While it may be true that paper bags are more expensive, stores use twice as many plastic bags because they're flimsier and don't hold as much.

Yes ban the plastic! I look forward to carrying my can goods, baby formula, and dreft in a paper bag on a rainy day. The thrill of chasing those cans across the parking lot as they rip through the wet paper is the best!

I agree, heavy cloth won't..or shouldn't break. But paper bags will.
