The families were not being critical of the volunteers at all, they have nothing but high praises for all of them and are grateful. They also understand the rescue squad had to pull out and help other people during the ice storm, they fully understand the rescue squads potition on that. What they are critical about is the fact there were other teams willing to come here (Boone Co, KY, Weakly co. TN, to name a few) and Marshall County would not give them the authority to come here, To come and participate in the search Marshall County was supposed to send a mutal Aid request to the outside squads to come, and they did not do so. That is what the families are upset about, they have no hard feelings toward any volunteer, it was the higher ups with authority that would not cooperate with other agencies to get the help they needed.
All they had to do was fax a peice of paper to the other teams willing to come, and they refused to do that.
I think Benton authorities and WPSD TV should all be ashamed of the peice they did for the news to make the families look bad...I think before anyone forms opinions they should get the whole story...We have two mothers who have lost their sons, and could get no help until they were forced to make people angry enough to react...I don't blame them...I support them fully, and before you get on a message board you should know the full story.

I am embarrassed about the how the families are putting emergency workers down after all they have done for them. These workers have donated their time in the cold and high winds to seach for their sons and they kick them down when they want to see after a few thousand residents in a national state of emergency. Come on families...think of people other than yourself.

1st of all, if this were your child missing, wouldn't you want them found? Our families were our priority during the ice storm.... Their children are theirs..There is nothing wrong with that, Put yourself in their shoes.... My goodness
give them a break!!!! Haven't they been through enough without all of these ignorant remarks being made???? As for the rescuers, the remarks were not made about them. I totally agree that the
county should have let others in to help, this nightmare might have been over by now. Hopefully
outsiders will be allowed in now to help.
These families truly need all the help that they can get. They actually need more divers, if you know of any, contact Mark Stanley or Lori Scott
or the Graves County Rescue Squad.

No where, no how, did either family of the missing boys put down volunteer or emergency workers. They are grateful for the work and hours they have put in. AGAIN: The people in charge did not follow through and authorize the teams willing to come here and search while Marshall county took care of their own during the ice storm (which the family fully understood) but other organizations and teams were willing to come and search during our disaster and Marshall County heads would not take time to Fax a 1 page paper (Mutual Aid Authorization) to these teams. That's what the family is upset and critical about. They are very thankful and have nothing but gratiude and respect for the volunteers that have helped them.
Many, many offers of help and aid have been turned away and refused. If that was your family in the lake, how would you feel when made aware more help had been available, and turned down.

I'm from Graves Co and found the posting by Mrs Scott very upsetting. People all accross Marhall and Graves Co(and many other counties) have been working very hard in search of these young men and to slam one county for stopping during a major 4 state wide storm is uncalled for. For All of the surronding counties resuce squads where busy tring to saving many lives during this time and I'm for one am very proud of them. ALL OF THEM. I can't even image these families pain and loss and I'll pray for all of them - and all of the resuce teams (whoever they are) May God help these families with all of their pain and help to seal their hearts.

Don't put Lori Scott down! I am a mother and I think if you ask any mother how they feel you will see that a mother is like a grizzly bear when it comes to her babies. This girl has been through hell the kind i hope I never have to face . And when you have help waiting to help and the people in charge seem to not being doing all they can the Beast comes out for a Mother. Not meaning to be mean but just wanting to be heard and to get the search back on track. Lori has had to wait for weeks to fine her son and I am sure that it has took a toll on her with her nerves. Please be kind as you have been so good this far don't let a little nerves get every one up tight .

I agree that respect for the families of these boys has decreased over the families accusations of recovery efforts when we had the ice storm. I feel sorry for they way they must express their grief in such a demining way.

I just went to the website http://www.site.kyduckhuntingsearchandrescue.... to see if there were any updates. I re-read the post from the other day which I agree sounded harsh. After carefully re-reading the story, they were not upset with any of the volunteers or the rescue workers. They were concerned because a simple letter had not been faxed to those not affected by the ice storm who were willing and able to help. The spin that the media put on the story was for ratings, and they should be ashamed of themselves for that. They should have provided a complete view of everything that was going on.

Mrs. Scott posted another note yesterday expressing her gratitude for all of the volunteers and rescue workers. Her latest update clearly shows that she is appreciative of all the work everyone has done.

I can not imagine what she is going through. As a mother, I hope I never have to face the horror she and the other families are facing. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them. I hope the day comes soon when they will have closure.

Food for thought -- how would you act if it was your child that was lost? Would you not want closure? Would you not want help in finding them? They outfitted their own boats with side sonar scanners just to keep the search going. That in its self shows they weren't just waiting around and commplaining, waiting for someone else to do something. They were out there searching too.

God does answer prayers.

Our thoughts and prayers are now with the families as they continue greiving for their lost sons. I pray they find peace in knowing their family will be reunited one day in heaven, which is eternal.

Reader, I have not lost any respect for them....I just know how hurt they are by what is going on in their lives and they NEED to bring their baby's home! I know if that was one of my kids you could just put me in there with them, because that is just something I could not handle. I do agree the focus needed to shift to the people that were alive and in jeprody and I am sure down the road they will agree...but this family is hurting beyond anything I can imagen and they have ran into so much red tape trying to bring home their children.

Amen!! Let someone mess with any of our kids and I bet we too would act the same! Then throw her pain of what she has been through on top of natural instincts and watch out world. I respect her!!!! She has been more involved than I could possilby be!! I would have dug a whole and hid in it! She has worked hard to bring her son home. Dont talk about her like that...you never know it could very well be YOU going through the same horrible situation.
