these boys were good friends out having a good time never giving it a thought of such a thing happening.I am sad for both families.Brad will have to live with this the rest of his life.that is probably more punishment than any jail time.He will be out of jail someday but can never bring his best friend back. Pray for both of these families. LARRY, i hope you are never in this situation!!!

I will never be in this situation, because by age 21 I learned not to drink and drive. Its not that hard of a concept to comprehend. And these two were not "boys", they were grown men and should have known better. We have been too lenient for too long on people who drink and drive. Let Brad out of jail and give him a slap on the wrist and see who he kills the next time he gets loaded and goes out for a spin.

To larry2657:
So please tell me, since your so quick to convict someone of the choices they make in thier life. What have you contributed in your life to see that people don't do this? Maybe you do it with your child but until it happens with them I don't believe you can speak in the terms that you are. That's unless your on some kind of drunk driver task force witch I'm pretty sure your not.

You people are so stupid. I knew Brad back in high school, and he was a screwup then. Yes, I have done a few things that I regretted over the years, but it never involved killing someone. It just amazes me how you folks can know that this dirtbag has never been worth a shit for anything, and now that he has killed someone, he has always been the upstanding citizen of Marshall County. You people are stupid if you think that he will ever change. As long as you treat what happened with the attitudes that you have, it will just continue and get worse. It's time to grow up and realize the drunk driver's have been killing people for years, and its time to put a stop to it.
whats it to you

Larry, no one has said that what Brad did was ok or that he should not be punished for what happened. All anyone has said, is that it is a really sad thing and that both families need prayers. SO MAYBE THE "STUPID" ONE IS YOU! I also knew Brad in school and no he is not a saint and has made some pretty poor choices in his life. This one he will have to live with forever. But instead of trashing him on a public web site perhaps you should join the rest of us in praying for these families, and as a christian that includes Brad.

Both of these families are in my prays. But what is forgotten here is by Larry, is what happened is horrible but Brad made a choice to drink n drive n Charlie made a choice to get into the car with Brad driving. Brad should be punished but not to the point of never getting out or making an example of him when they both made a choice. Now if Brad hit another car n killed that person then yes by all means throw him away because that other person in that other car did not make a choice to put themselves in harms way. Please just ponder that n Larry I'm sorry for whatever loss you have experienced with this but I have been in the side of loading a loved one to a decision of getting into the car with a drunk driver and she was sober and list her life at 16 years old.

No, he was not. Brad was also driving 80 mph when he should have been driving less than 35 mph. I doubt Charlie knew how intoxicated Brad was. People that comsume a great deal of alcohol on a regular basis, can appear more sober than they actually are. The excessive driving speed played a role in the charges.

How do you know that Charlie wasn't drinking? As far as I know, that information hasn't been released and more than likely won't be released until the court date.

They were both idiots and deserve everything that comes to them out of this. I hope Brad spends the rest of his miserable life in prison.

Thanks everyone for your enlightening comments,Brad is my son and I'm not proud of the fact that he did this horrible thing, but he is my son and I still love him ,and to the person who knew him in school, why didn't you try to help him instead of trying to ignore him. He was raised in a christian home, but he chose the wrong patrh to go down.

The question that I replied to was in regards to Charlie being drunk. I believe my answer to be a fact- no. There is a difference between drinking and being drunk. I am not part of the rumors, just felt the need to reply to a question posted about Charlie, as that question offended me and has no place on a site like this.- Nor should any discussion about anyone involved. You are very right is it a sad situation....as Charlie was a member of our family.

There were a lot of people in high school who tried to help his stupid ass, but he always had to be a tough guy and the center of attention. And anytime that anyone tried to say anything to him, all he wanted to do was fight. Karma is a bitch. Your best bet Mom, and all you other do-gooders out there, is to send his ass to the pen and get on with your lives. Brad Chandler is never going to amount to anything, and he will be a constant disappointment for everyone until the day they bury his sorry ass.
