County recycling director: Commit or get out
Marion County has two viable options for a recycling program: take over all recycling in the county and really commit to it or get out of it entirely, Transfer Station Director Rollin Schmidt told county commissioners Monday.

According to the EPA, Americans created 250M tons of garbage in 2008. Recycling is desperately needed. If you do decide to outsource the recycling to a third party vendor, please make sure they are employing responsible recycling practices best in the industry to avoid pollution, exportation to third world countries, contamination of water supplies and land. Another man's trash is NOT necessarily another man's treasure. Thank You.

I dont know why the City of Marion hasnt tried to turn trash service and recycling over to a private company. Stutzmans is known for recycling and has its own recycling center, and now that they have been bought by Waste Connections it would be even better.
The City of Marion needs to quit hiding in the shadows, we need to turn the Electric service over to Westar and the Trash over to Waste Connections. With that being done the citizens of Marion will have much better service.
All the so called leaders of this town need to rethink the way they do things, its time to get with the program. If you want to see this town grow you have got to get rid of the small town, small minded attitude.
