Daniels, in accepting Payneís resignation, blasted critics for using the situation for political gain. Still, if the governor didnít know about Payneís personal case being handled by the department, Daniels should be asking why he didnít.
Danielsí comments after the resignation made it sound as if he was willing to let Payne off the hook. But Payne was correct that it would be difficult to operate the highly personal affairs of DCS with his own case casting a shadow.
