How much you want to bet Bob (Mark's brother) had a Rebel flag hanging in his rusty and crappy trailer? When I heard the suspects might be S.Westside trash,I knew the authorities and public are most likely dealing with the most stupid among the bumbling idiots. That side of town is brimming with idiots. The air stinks in the area. The dump, tar companies, chemical companies, the incinerator, waste water plants,IPL, and multitudes of industry reside there. Those people are like aliens attracted to waste. Or in common Midwestern parlance, flys attracted to sheeet. Going to the S.Westside is like stepping off from a plane and walking upon the tarmac in Korea. Oh,and not to forget, the other trailer park trash that has been rumored to have been brought in for questioning.

I hope they hang this motley crew of idiots.

Are they gathering evidence or has the trail gone cold with the passing of 2 weeks? I hope these people do not walk.

After reading some of the articles written about this case, along with so-called "expert" comments, I'm wondering the same myself.
Among all that wreckage, they need to find the supply line to the gas appliances. Then, even if they do, will it show the evidence that the authorities seek?
On a gas appliance, whether a stove, furnace or fireplace, the supply line closest to the appliance is a flexible metal pipe like this...

Say they loosened one end of it. Can experts tell if someone intentionally loosened it? Especially after it's been in a massive explosion and fire? In my mind, that would be awfully difficult.
I remember reading that it was suspected that the explosion was set off remotely. I think some gas fireplaces can be lit with a remote, much like turning on your tv with a remote. So I wonder if the Shirley house had a gas fireplace. Every house on that side of the street has a chimney, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's gas. But I'd bet it is.
If the fireplace was lit ahead of time, then a gas leak was intentionally created in the basement and the house abandoned, it would probably take several hours for the gas to build up to a high enough concentration to ignite. What would be left for investigators to examine? I'm really puzzled.
It looks like all the investigators did was ratchet up the heat on some suspects and hoped that one of them would talk. So far, that tactic hasn't worked, which, if they're guilty, is a sign of seasoned criminals. They know all they have to do is keep their mouths shut and make the investigators prove their suspicions.
Regardless of how the investigation goes from here, the insurance company won't pay off on the Shirley house until sued. The Shirley's don't care. The house is gone and they will not make anymore payments. The mortgage company is the one that will be out the money.
So then, here's my next question.....and it's been bothering me for a few years now.....
When people get a mortgage to buy a house, they have to purchase mortgage insurance. It's a one time, up front payment included in the closing costs. This is to protect the lender. So how is the mortgage company going to lose? See, I never understood the housing crisis, or whatever name you want to put to it. The lenders were protected from bad mortgages by insurance. So why did the mortgage industry go to hellinahandbasket? Makes no sense to me.
At this point in time, the Shirley's will only suffer from a bad credit report. So? The ex Mrs. Shirley can always go back to her maiden name to avoid any stigma from the name.
We all may be left with hoping that one of them will get drunk or high and brag to the wrong person.
What a shame.

I hope at some point one of them will mess up. And the person listening will remember the unclaimed reward money. Like OJ, maybe he didn't go to prison for killing Nicole and Ron, but in the end his thug way of life sent him away. Maybe this will happen to Ms. Shirley and her boys.

If they're guilty, we can only hope.
I do believe in Karma.
