I cannot believe what I read in the paper that The Planning and Zoning Commission wants to take our mall parking lot away from not only the merchants that need it and also the people that use it to shop.
We already have lost the parking lot on the south side of the mall to Musco. If you take away the mall on the north side where do people park? Do you see the long range effect? The businesses will be affected greatly when nobody can get to their stores because there is no place to park. I for one am a senior citizen who cannot walk far and I will stop using our local businesses if I have to walk several blocks to get there. I hate to think that I have to drive out of town to be able to park next to a building. With the economy the way it is I do not see the wisdom in making it more difficult for the businesses. Our city needs the moneys that are brought in by the local businesses. Our city will be hurt by their closings.
Have you thought about all of the people that travel here for the Lighted Christmas Parade? They deserve a place to park when they get here. It could have a great affect on that as well.
What about all of the functions that go on in center court at the mall for various activities?
I think your priorities are totally out of balance.
I think it is sad that this proposed skate park takes priority over the economy of our city. There is the location a few blocks west where the buildings burned down this winter which is only a few blocks further west. The young people should not find that a burden to go that far.
I am saddened and appalled by your short-sidedness.

I am sorry. My last sentence should have read as short-sightedness.
