I always believe that a jury of your peers ,should also be of your age period , a 40 yr old shouldn't be judged by a 20 year old as well as they shouldn't be judge by a 60 year old , will that ever happen , don't know

each age period has different values

right is right, wrong is wrong
doesnt matter what age u are, if u learned that growing up, u will make the best decision that u are able to. hopefully all will come to the same conclusion.

While I abhor the idea of a biased juror making off-the-cuff decisions about guilt/non-guilt, based on "gut feelings," personal prejudice, flawed reasoning, or simply to be polite and agreeable with the group and not rock the boat (i.e., "groupthink"), I have the sinking feeling that what we see here is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg; Ms. Jons just happened to shoot her mouth off in a worldwide public forum and get caught.

What is she doin being A Juror at age 20. That is just 2 years older than me! No surprise here. A young idiot. Experience lacking and being A juror is A bad mix. If she did go to A college to have this position it must have been short...like her common since.

All juries in certain jurisdictions need to be sequestered so that you dont have dummies like this who probably got her experience watching Twelve Angry Men and reruns of Perry Mason.

u know tally, getting back to the original thought, dont u think that if they did what u suggest that people who are making a judgment on someone their own age group would tend to decide in favor of this person simply for that reason. i mean, if u have people who are all different ages, then u at least have people with all different experiences and maybe are in a better place to make an informed decision based on that alone. i kinda of think people by nature tend to side with someone who is similar to themselves. and its for that reason im not sure ur idea would work either.
but i definitely think some kind of change in jury selection is a good idea. i wish they would make it voluntary but im sure then they wouldnt have enough people at all. the thought of making a judgment on someones future just isnt as easy for some..

it is a interesting thought , but most people take jury duty as very serious affair except for 12 in LA and this one here , but but at sixty-nine I don't want to be tried by a 20 yr old either , really don't know wnat is your peer ??

Why was the judge reading facebook, when he should have been paying attention to the trial?

(Note: The above is a joke. If you wanna judge it as a shitty joke, well can't blame you: Looking at it now makes me wonder why I'm printing it... But it IS a joke, or at least an attempt at irony. Thx, TM)

in reality the jury is the judge , it is the state verses the John Doe , the seated judge is a referee

mine would be the 50/60 group, but in my mind that doesnt matter because i feel that i would rather have a diverse group of people so that they could make an impartial decision. unless of course i was actually guilty - LOL
for me personally as a juror, i stress over whether im making the "right" decision. i would always be wondering, what if i was wrong, what if all 12 of us got it wrong.
i always doubt myself so i know its really just me being me..
lol

you just define the system and if you have doubt then its not guilty , those are your charges , beyond a reasonable doubt

the state has to prove guilt , the defense doesn't have to say a word

Someone's in disagreement here. They do know you were once a judge, right?

As far as jurors' ages go, I'd feel uneasy being on trial (I've only been up for a speeding fine (guilty) and vehicle documentation violation (admonished)- honest) if I looked across at the jury and there was someone young enough to be my son/daughter. I'd also feel my 'brief' hadn't done their job by weeding out this inappropriate person during the selection process.

you don't have a jury trial for a violation that is a trial by the BANC modify that a hearing via Banc , other wards an officer of the court a lawyer is an officer of the court
and can serve as a magistrate

it isn't your duty to interpret the law , that is what the state /defense/judge's duty , you weigh the facts and decide , period

but doesn't this put a hole in your , if you are old enough to fight , you are old enough to drink , but not to serve jury duty??
