I think the bus driver did a great job. I think that the father need to get back on tv and thanks her for doing a good job. The bus drivers needs more money for all the stuff they got to put up with. I couldn't do that job. It take a special person to do that job.

No matter what the circumstances were and why the child did not leave the bus, the bus driver could have/should have checked the bus for sleeping/left over students as soon as possible after the last scheduled stop. Better to find the student sooner than miles & minutes later when parked at home or in the yard.

The driver did this as stated when she arrived home. This, apparently, was the first safe location for this driver. A parent should have been there to get the child. And any parent that INSISTS a child get on and off the bus by themselves at this age should have their heads examined and made by the county or courts to go to parenting classes! I agree it is better to discover that everyone was not dismissed from the bus before getting back to the location of where you park your bus than to have to make the trip out again either to the school or to the childs home. It not only inconveniences the parents, it also inconveniences the driver and the school and the administration! However, as stated in some earlier posts, this bus driver did what is expected of her. She did her pre trip and her post trip. I know that some people are saying that she did not post trip that the child just popped up when she arrived in her driveway. Well it doesn't really matter if she was parking the bus or post tripping the bus when the child was discovered. What is important is that this child was in the safe hands of a caring bus driver and obviously felt comfortable enough on the bus to go to sleep!

One more thing: It is not that it is inconvenient to spot and check the bus before heading to where you park you bus, it is in alot of situations not practical and safe!

I'm glad to see you are a FORMER district clerk. Doesn't sound like you have any common sense and are not someone that should be in a resaponsible position.

Yes, you could do that job and do it well. With good support from the well behaved kids, parents and the employer you would soon be the captain of your school bus. You could do it well, simply because you have a presence of mind and the natural skills to recognize what needs to happen, even in some situations you may not be entirely familiar with. The worst behaved have driven away some of the best school bus drivers creating an artificial shortage and a common fear from the best out their to ever drive a school bus. It is time that fear is stopped and that difference takes charge.
