How could anyone forget this crime.
I was sickened when I saw this thug's photo.
To beat an 87 year old woman brutally is a heinous crime.
I wonder why he was referred to as a teenager in the article and his age was not given.
If he gets off easy, there is something wrong with the justice system.

I wouldn't have any sort of problem sending this useless bag of cr*p away for the rest of his miserable life. Wouldn't have any problem flipping the switch on him either, had it come to that. Here's hoping he gets a dose of his own medicine in prison.

Oh, and you can save your breath(s) on the bleeding heart "Oh, he had a rough childhood" drivel. Things like that can be overcome if one is of a strong enough constitution (which obviously this POS does NOT).

Flip the switch!!! AGREED!!! We need to enforce and expedite the death penalty a lot more for the garbage that walks among us.

No doubt his taxpayer paid public defender will come up with something like "Homey is a victim of da man's cruel justice system. At age 10 his pappy didn't buy him the pony that he wanted and this scarred young homey fo' evah."

If he gets off or is paroled I can only hope that he is given an internship with the Charlottesville City Council as part of a rehab program.

I wonder if there would be this much rage if it was a black woman beaten by a white man? Yes right sure it would.

I don't know this guy personally but I do know his older brother Rontray. Rontray didn't have anything to do with it other than knowing it happened and didn't go to the police. And Rontray didn't seem to have a bad childhood. He was a good guy and did great in school and even had a football scholarship. So I don't know what happened to his brother. I can't believe ANYONE would do such a heinous act on an elderly person, or anyone else for that matter.

ummm...you might wish to check up on Rontray...he's got a cell to match right now...

Rontray L. Houchens, 23, is facing up to 281 years in prison for running a drug ring in the rural Louisa County.

"But he was a good kid from a good family"

I have family members that taught both the kids....this was no secret it was brewing, and call me racist or stereotypical about them riding around in their black Escalade with the big wheels, while at the same time never having worked...

By no means was I trying to say that what he did was wrong by not going to the police, and never once did I say he didn't have faults of his own. It has been over 5 years since I seen him. I was just saying that he was a good kid IN SCHOOL. And never did I once say he came from a "good family." I just said he didn't have a bad childhood. I know what is going around in my home town, I'm not blind. But when I knew him, he was a decent kid. But people change, and it isn't always for the best.

This is so old and tired. OF COURSE THERE WOULD BE THE SAME RAGE!!! Why are YOU not as concerned? By saying this, it seems that YOU are the one with the issue. Amazing.

If his brother Rontray knew that his brother did this and did not go to the police, "enough said about him being a good guy"!
It seems like he had a good childhood. Things are not always the way they seem, but it is the way we perceive them. We have no way of knowing what goes on behind closed doors.
I have been following Laughing's posts for a long time and trust that he would never post anything if he did not have accurate facts to back up his comments.
Maybe you should do your homework before posting, defending the brother who tried to conceal this heinous beating and blinding of this 87 year old woman. He is an accomplice, as far as I am concerned!!!!

The race card is OLD and TIRED! So sad but it does show LadyofVa must be a racist herself.

The mother was charged as well if I'm not mistaken...

Both of the sons had been pulled from the school system and had to be"home schooled" as they were not seen fit to be a part of the standard system. This was not a surprise for many.

Just read the old story and it was an aunt.(Both will be tried for obstruction of justice.)
Who provided the "home schooling", since I doubt the family could afford it.
When you are deemed unfit to be a part of the standard system and are underage, I think the child should be removed from the home and put in a group home, or as they were called some years ago a REFORM school.

The county pays for it, so they can still say they provide the service. It's typically handled by state certified teachers, teachers retired from the system or whoever else is qualified. They give them a county car, point them in the right direction and tell them good luck basically. After X number of hrs they will consider them educated and give them a "diploma" and send them on their way and out of the system they go.
