This SRO issue has been going on for years. I don't agree with pulling them from the schools but I do believe in giving credit where credit is due. I would like to thank all the council members and the mayor for sticking to their guns. Council members Milsaps and Jones have stood with their decision to pull them from the start and members Cartwright and Parks didn't back down on the opposition side. Mrs. Keller made it clear what she was going to do and when it came time she did it. I'm sure the SB had the attitude of we heard it before and they won't do it but I bet they think twice next time. So again thanks to ALL the council and mayor. And I will end by asking how are those 18 people who was on the cut list going to feel when they have lost their job due to lack of money but they want to take more money just to keep 2 police officers on their little gravey train.

City saved virtually no money. Paying officers anyway. Just an axe to grind. Kids hurt by the grinding.

Word on the street is that Councilman Jimmy Parks works part-time on weekends for the Loudon City Police. I guess its not to hard to figure out why he voted no.

Had anybody ever heard of Columbine Co. Before 1999??? Nope, and they made news for a horrible reason. Those officers act as a deterrent for people who want to commit these horrible acts and they also serve many other functions. Bathe decision to remove them was irresponsible to say the least....I guess we're supposed to hope and pray something bad doesn't happen at our schools instead of being proactive and having a presence in the schools. Jimmy Parks and Mike Cartwright tried to do what was right!

It gives them more officers on the street. If the PD was in need of 1 or 2 more officers then Yes it saves the city money.

There was a simple solution to the whole thing. The SB could have given the money but they decided to wait around and the mayor did what she said she would do. Blame the people who didn't stop it from happening. They were told 6 months ago and they did nothing. As I said before I hate they pulled them from the school but we need to lay blame on the right people.

I agree that the SB bears some responsibility in this, but the city has been equally stubborn....playing politics with the kids safety....there should be an IQ test before you can run for public office...that would eliminate most politicians in this county

Does anyone know if the SB voted to give the city the money they were asking for. The vote was today after they swore in the new members. I couldn't make it down the meeting, just curious how the vote went
