Los Angeles City Council to vote on plastic bag ban
The Los Angeles City Council is on track to prohibit plastic bags at supermarket checkout lines, a proposal long sought by clean-water advocates who say the bags pollute the ocean and the city's waterways.

Paper bags suck! Once again big government is trying to control our lives.

kool....the rancid cloth bags are disease traps which will have a particularly terrible impact on poor families. the city council doesn't have to bother with even the most glaringly obvious negative consequences of their actions. they know that la is a city full of brain dead losers that will vote for anything with a d beside it's name on a ballot so who cares about the bad stuff.

This is a real tragedy. The Bag Ban has been in place in Long Beach for several months now.
Ask any Grocery store clerk and they will tell tales about how FILTHY and disgusting the cloth bags get after awhile. One clerk told me it broke her heart so see vegetables, pork, and chicken put in the smelly, filthy cloth bags for a Mother with four young children.
The clerk felt bad because of the women who never seemed to wash the bags were black or latino. Big Brother Bureaucrats strike again. Racists must be Thrilled.
