There are 1519 comments on the www.caps-blog.org story from Jun 18, 2011, titled Anchor babies cost Los Angeles welfare $600 million last year . In it, www.caps-blog.org reports that:

California harbors the most illegal aliens in the nation and a new report out from the Los County Board of Supervisors shows the incredibly high cost of welfare for parents of anchor babies. The $600 million tab was tallied using county statistics released by Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich who says social spending for those families rose $53 million in November and when added to the $570 already spent would edge the yearly welfare bill past $600 million for 2010.

I agree, if US Citizens knew the actual costs we would be shocked. Time for a change!

I'm not totally crazy about any government not possessing the ability to control its budgets but don't be fooled, these people want you to believe that this $600 million all goes into the hands of illegal immigrant & that they're getting extremely rich which is not true.

Consider the network of job creation & commerce created out of $600 million a year for Los Angeles County alone. The job creation of doctors, nurses, medical assistants, pharmacist, teachers, lawyers, law enforcement or related businesses such as WIC or other retail stores that keep the economy going as this money indeed created jobs & the taxation of those jobs as well as small businesses that also get taxed. It's commerce!

So in the end, I might not like the idea of my tax dollars funding a never ending supply of babies, the process still helps out the commerce of Los Angeles.

The cost to L.A. County is just a portion of the costs nationwide Rico. Read the article and the posts then respond and name call.

Did you get it this time? I typed slowly for you! LOL!

You're asking questions that are a result of supreme court rulings, federal mandates or state mandates that LAWFULLY allow these children/people to enjoy those services in question.

It would be one thing had there been no Plyer vs Doe, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1986 (EMTAMA), 14th amendment to the US Constitution, welfare programs, or the requirement to incarcerate criminals but their is and as a lawful society governments are bound to provide for these people. Complaining about the lawful use of governmental services seems lost in the argument.

I'm not claiming that this is fine & dandy. There needs to be some kind of ability to place caps on these unfunded mandates as I see how it forces city budgets into the corner.

BTW, the cost of illegal immigration Nationwide is estimated to be $100 billion a year. I'm sure people will bring their own numbers that are 10x that amount and it's all moot. The point here is that it's a hunk of cash that can be spent in a different way such as on improved border security but don't expect the politicians to do that anytime soon.

Why do you ask well known questions that are readily available at your fingertips via google search?

When you do this, it shows your inability to research info as well as a clear demonstration of your lack of knowledge of the subject matter.

Keep in mind, you asked the question, not I!

Its a ploy used by paranoiacs, everybody is one. Doesn't matter, if you don't agree with them, you're either illegal or Rico or both!
