I don't know what or where the public of lonoke county are, but you are way out of touch if you don't know that are sheriffs department and the sheriff are liars and are crooks they have been involved in illegal activitey for years. Just look at the same situation with the other lonoke jail where there where more drugs there than there was on the streets did anyone learn from that about lonoke just because it the sheriffs office and judge do you actually think that they are not as bad or worse?

Crooked as it gets in arkansas. Arrested me on bogus charges with no evidence, drew arrest out so i would arrive at jail 5 min too late to bond out that day, made me sleep on the floor in a closet that smelled like urine. Charges were dropped, but still lost days at work, bond, laywer fees, and not to mention being charged defames your character. I HAD 2 friends that were deputies, one lonoke and one pulaski, but most people believe "if he was charged with a crime he probably did it or he would not have been arrested in the first place." I wish I could get in on that lawsuit, usually when I see a snake I cut its head off

Hmmm.. me thinks thou doth protest too much. Many of these comments seem to come from people who have first hand experiences with law enforcement....on the wrong side. Have you ever heard of "guilt by association"?? I am sorry if someone is arrested on charges that end up being dropped, but WHY were you in the situation to be arrested in the first place?? WHO are you associating with??
These deputies put their lives on the line day in and day out. If they do not know you personally, they do not know your intentions or whether or not you are armed. These men and women have decided to take a job where they are underpaid and under appreciated, not to mention, constantly under scrutiny and accused of inproprieties. They suit up before their shift, kiss their family goodbye, not knowing if it will be their last kiss. They protect YOUR property, YOUR family, YOUR life with their own. Come on, people...appreciate. These men and women could have become lawyers, business owners...ANYTHING that didn't require them taking a bullet, but they didn't.
It is truly sad when people get caught out breaking the law and to try to save face, retalliate with a lawsuit. Umm, hello...they are probably making LESS money than most people! You can't squeeze blood from a turnip!
So, go on...talk down these everyday heroes, beat them up verbally, abuse their reputation with false accusations. The funny thing is, they will STILL respond to your home when it is burglarized, they will still administer life saving techniques when needed, they will still pull you & your family from a burning home...it's in their nature. They will be there fighting for you and your safety until they have been sued so much, they have nothing left. When there are no deputies, who are you going to call when someone is threatening you or your family with a weapon..I am sure your LAWYER won't respond to help!
Let's rethink the deputy slamming, shall we??

Are you kidding me? Did you read my post above? Lonoke County gives law enforcement a bad image. I know some honest police officers lke you make mention of, and their reputation is tarnished by the dead-beat officers. Police are people just like anyone else. The corruption in that county has been well known and poorly covered up for decades. Like myself, people just don't care until it effects them. I never thought it could happen to me. And to be honest, I used to judge people the same way you do, out of my own ignorance.

Let's get real. Law enforcement officer is not found among the top ten most dangerous jobs. It also is not found in the top ten most stressful jobs. These people are not everyday heroes. Some do, occasionally, rise to that status. LEOs are not required to come to your assistance, even if you call them, even if they're standing right there. That means they don't have to "respond to your home when it is burglarized", or "administer life saving techniques when needed", or "pull you and your family from a burning home", or "fight[ing] for you and your safety." Two Supreme Court decisions will tell you that. LEOs routinely lie. Cops routinely cover for each other in their criminal activity. So, enough with the sophistry, blind adulation, and repetition of fallacious memes.

Oh, so what you are saying is that the law enforcement is not being paid and forced to help the public, but it is their individual decision to do so. I appreciate them all putting on their uniforms each day to get free coffee and half priced lunches and to ride around in their air conditioned cars all day long and stop at a car accident (or not if they don;t want to), direct traffic, and possibly save a life while at the same time endangering themselves because of the idiots who pass a wreck are NOT paying attention to the nice gentleman or woman who is there in his/her uniform directing the traffic, but paying attentin to what is going on with the accident. Thanks for clearing that up for us. The only thing that would make it better would be if they paid for their own gas in the police car and hung up their cell phone and did the job that we citizens expect out of them for what they are being paid! Good grief people.

These rumors about the Sheriff and Detectives ,to be arrested from Lonoke County have proven to be only rumors. If this department is as bad as the rumors going around why has something not been done about the corruption in the Lonoke Sheriffs Dept. I you know anything at all about this department you need to contact the STATE POLICE OR THE FBI,if you do not know anything then let the department alone.

Victim of lonoke county, did you think you were staying at the Holiday Inn? As far as the lawsuit, start your own, or are you not telling the truth? And, if any of you ditching any law enforcement official can do a better job, then do it. And, no I am not in law enforcement. But, as far as the sheriff goes, you elected him so deal with it.

This site is to voice our own opinion, right? Not to find a solution to any and every problem that might come up, and this is my own opinion no matter if everyone else agrees with me or not. If we all had the same feelings about a matter or if we all had the same opinion or hands-on experience, then every one of you would be after the same person to wed. I know that not all LEO's are perfect and the don't all always follow the law. I also know that not all LEO's are crooked and some of them do follow all the laws, but why should ONE OR TWO OR TWENTY-FIVE give them ALL a bad name? And my same opinion goes for lawyers, judges, school bus drivers, teachers, daycare workers, Wal-Mart associates, CEO's of large firms, airline pilots, etc. etc. There is always one or two bad seeds in every package, but most of the time, there are more good seeds than bad seeds in a package. I know that it is because human nature is this way and drama seems to be the most interesting topic, but why don't we focus on patting the good ones on the back rather than trying to get the bad ones more attention?
Too Many Bad Cops

Because it's more than one, or two, or twenty-five. The problem isn't that there aren't good ones, it's that so many of those decent ones cover for the bad ones, which makes them no better. In addition, those who go into LE for the right reasons are quickly disillusioned and become jaded, losing sight of the bigger picture, and their own humanity. They see themselves as the "good" guys in relation to the "bad" guys, but fail to see that they've become no better than the "bad" guys. The only real difference is that the "good" guys get better press, state-issued colors, and a free pass for their own criminal behavior, particularly as long as they are "just doing their jobs." The fact is that these "good" guys are a part of the largest street gang in America, and they act like it.

On top of that, all manner of evil behavior is legislatively forced onto cops by the politicians. Since the cop doesn't want to lose his/her job, they'll do whatever is asked of them, and justify it all as "just doing my job." Add small minds, low self esteem, and big egos to it, and you get what we have today: a rapidly increasing police state.

Read some of the e-mail that was hacked from the police chiefs in Texas. It's just common cop talk, with some porno thrown in, and some criminal intent. The fact that it is common cop talk should tell you something. These are not the exceptions, but the rule. And, these are the chiefs. What sort of department morale and morals do you think they create?

Give people enough power, enough authority over others, and very little accountability, and these people will abuse it. This is where the problem lies. Were there to be accountability introduced into the system, one of two things would happen. Either cops would curtail their criminal behavior, or they'd be going to jail on a regular basis. As it is, neither of these occurs with any regularity. And, it's getting worse every week. There are web sites that track this, so it's easy to see it as it happens. But, these instances are just those that are reported. How many are not?

OK, maybe I am misunderstanding, but from the beginning of this topic page, we are only discussing LONOKE COUNTY, hence the topic "Lawsuit filed against Lonoke Co., Lonoke Co. Sheriff's Department, Cabot couple". There are barely 25 law officials on the payroll for Lonoke County, much less 25 who are ALL bad seeds. I for one, know at lease 3 that are by the books, no covering, no looking back, in fact they are narks upon their fellow Lonoke County City Police and Firemen. All you are doing is profiling once again and setting the scene like Lonoke county has 110% bad city officials...PROFILING is not nice! And everyone is entitles to a mistake every now and again. How would you like it if you were, say, a diesel truck mechanic and there are 2,000 trucks in your field of business that you have checked or fixed the truck brakes on in the past month, yet one foggy morning, one of those truck brakes goes out in the middle of a 2 lane city street with a downhill slope and that truck crashes into a Donut Shop killing 8 people and injuring 11 others. Do you instantly think "Oh my gosh, that must have been one of the trucks that I worked on and I made a mistake and now 19 people are injured or killed because of me and the fact that I was, maybe, just that one time, trying to get out of work just 30 minutes early to attend my sons first soccer match against our towns biggest rival".
To each their own opinion, but I just don't understand why everyone has to be the black sheep except for the person who is calling out the black sheep in the heard. Oh yeah, DRAMA goes over better than the TRUTH!
Come on, is the cup half full or is the cup half empty? Is every apple on the tree ruined or is there just that one apple with the worm that attempted to ruin the entire crop?

Are we watering our crops with Miracle Grow or with Round Up?
Who on Earth voted these low-life human beings into our governmental and law enforcement entities?
Isn't there a way to weed them out? Is it against the law to call them out by name? Can we file a petition to have their actions "looked into" by an outside agency who is not in the county pocket? Quit whining about it all and actually do something about it. Write your senator or representative or the governor or the city mayor or the sheriff. Don't sit on this site and anonimously say what you believe people want to hear. It's all DRAMA. Do something about it!

There are a group of residents that we all have voted in who is there to take our matters to the "powers that be". These people are called our city council members and all of us have one or two or more that represent us, if we notify them of our concerns. These people also have monthly meetings to address things that are going on in the general public and matters such as this topic. If you truly want to do something about this becides sit behind your keyboard and anonomously post "rumors" then show up for a city council meeting, even if you just sit in the back of the room and listen. Maybe then you will know what is going on in your community as opposed to these Dramatic Soap Opera Want-To-Be's on this TOPIX website.
