Billy Joe was a close friend of mine. After Abe was murdered, I worked at Beebe Police as an Investigator. Joe rode with me many hours ( hundreds) working on his Dad's case. There was a bunch of us that never gave up.
Nine years before arrest, we knew who did it, yet there was not enough evidence to convict. Finally it came together and Gary Evans was arrested. He plea bargained and recieved thirty (or 40) years. I have been tolde he was paroled not long ago, but that wasn't confirmed.
I personally do not believe Joe's case was related.
These Robbers/Murderers need to be taken down and put in a small cell for the rest of their lives. If they can do such horrid crime, they would not think twice in doing it again. They have no respect for human life!
Hopefully enough evidence will be gathered to take this scum out soon!
Many of Joe's friends have their family in our prayers, and several I've talked to vowed to never give up trying to find out who did this.

no daddy's case was of course not related to my grandpas murder even though it fell 34 years to the day ofter grandpa's murder. daddy had to wait 26 years to see the man who killed grandpa face his time in prison. luckily we only waited 3 days to capture the people responsible for daddy's murder. david derreberry received life w/o parole and his wife jacklyn derreberry received 20 years, 6 yrs suspended so she untimately received 14 years in prison for her role. thank goodness! i miss you daddy and love you so much.

I was at court when derriberry or however you spell that has his trial. They made everyone leave because it was so serious. And I know someone who was locked up with him before his trial. And he said they caught him cause of a McDonald's camera probably over a mile away. I'm sorry to hear about your loss.:( They got what they deserved! People like that need to rot in prison.
