Police make several arrests

The middle of the month saw law enforcement officers spending more and more time arresting shoplifting suspects.

Whats the use of putting these ppl in jail for their crimes when they will get out and do it again.All of us tax payers just has to pay for them to be in jail.The law is just waisting thier time fooling with them.

I think WV should use progressive sentencing for NON-VIOLENT crime. Its insane the amount of non-violent offenders that are in prison for minor drug offenses or petty theft. It cost taxpayers over 40 thousand per year per inmate. The more people like this that are incarcerated the more VIOLENT offenders that get released early. Take your pick..who do you want on the street some non-violent drug user who has never hurt anyone but him/her self or violent rapists,murderers and child molesters. Our justice system is a joke. We need a major overhaul of our entire judicial system. Alternative sentencing is most definitely needed in this area where poverty and lack of recreational activities have lead to rampant drug use and addiction problems. Now remember,I am talking NON-VIOLENT offenders..anyone who harms another person deserves to be punished severely.

most drug users aren't nonviolent. in fact, i've never met a pill head who wouldn't kill or steal from their own mommy for a pain pill.

You had the people who broke into Miss Workman's place and beat her to death, probably to get money for drugs.
You had the person who stabbed ole man Stoneoff to death, probably to get drugs.
You had the ole lady up Man killed by druggies....

Right off the top of my head I can only think of one case where somebody was killed and it WASNT by drug offenders and that was a domestic violence deal....

ANY druggie has the potential to be dangerous and needs to be locked up if they wont seek rehab willingly.

actually most of the one's that OD are on methodone,i've seen people on pills and when they went to the clinics for help the methodone they was on made them act worse then when they was on pills,i've been told by people in rehab that they have something they give them in there that takes away the sweats and cramps so they don't want the pills why don't the clinics give that to the ones who come for help

the state system has made it easy for the drugs to be out on the streets. If you can't get pain pills they will allow them to go and get a methodone fix. We need to blame the system for allowing the drugs to be put on the streets. We have free information that is being given out on computers, news, talk shows, tv shows, the list goes on. In many states, it is a felony (punishable by more than 1 year incarceration) for possession of a controlled substance. For example, I know a person who did six years because 3 alprazolam (xanax) pills were found in his car illegally. I think with stiffer penalties, people would at least think twice before running around with a sh@tload of drugs on them.

In WV, it's a slap on the wrist, a fine (which is never paid), and they are sent on their way.

I feel as you do. Doctors write to many scrips for pain pill. In most cases these drug are sold on the streets and we the tax payers are paying for these doctors visit and the pan pills.

And yes it will get worse unless a stop is made for doctors to quick giving this medication to them. I say report the doctors.

People who get these meds do not need them. Its like a money thing for doctors & drug dealers.

The problem is not the cops. The problem is the legislature and the court system.

The legislature is buying votes with drugs.
The courts are slapping people on the wrist instead of punishing them....

Criminals only understand two things. Punishment and Reward.
If you reward them for bad behavior- IE letting them out of jail when they commit a crime
Why the %#@ do you think they are going to do anything but commit more crimes?

Just like with welfare we are rewarding people for bad behavior.

well i don't think it's all who's elected the doctors still writes for those who pay.if there weren't medical cards or checks them people would complain over that there's always gonna be something for people to complain about.if republican are in office then they are filling their pockets and forget about the people and same with democrates they might have good intentions when elected but somewhere down the road it always changes..as for the doctors i know some who can lift car motors by their self and goes and gets painpills no problem and i know some who's really been hurt had surgeries and they are lucky to get motrin wrote for them and some of the doctors if your a man with proof you've been hurt forget it but if you're a woman and smile you get the meds..what makes me mad is people who really need it don't get it those that abuses it gets it

If you're a nurse them i'm president..lol you can't even spell right,then again that might explain why the hospitals and clinics are in the shape there in.And for your info i've had several friends and family go to rehab,guess them and the doctors lied huh? As for the OD's check out which drug most was taking and mixing,though they shouldn't mix them some does.Can you give an alcholic a job in a bar and tell him not to drink?yes what are the odds he want? slim..so go take your methodone and/or suboxone and don't be afraid they will close those clinic,they want it makes them money legally...
