If a no contact order is in effect for a couple due to a simple assault charge, can the alleged victim break that contact and would this be ok if the law was not called?

If you are in poverty, you might qualify for free legal aid from the Legal Aid department in Hammond. Also, if you feel confident enough to deal with the poor quality Public Defenders Office, try and request an Affidavit Of Poverty to have the PD fees paid for by the Parish.

No contact orders are simply methods of keeping the accused from communicating with the "alleged". If you violate it, and the alleged complains, you can lose your bond, and/or be re-arrested. If you don't tell the prostitutes in the D.A.'s office, then no one really cares. Remember, your partner can plead the 5th amendment if they are forced to testify after dropping the charges. Take it all the way to trial and do not accept any plea bargains.
